no, you are right on the money, not misreading a thing, you are reading exactly what you want to be reading, who am i to tell you how you should be reading things. you seem to have a pretty well built foundation for your argument that i hate white people carry on with your sadness
The exercise of pinning wins on Chooch or trying to come up with how many wins he's gonna be worth makes me nervous. Like @VRP continuing to say that Yaz is gonna start all the playoff games and make every start against LHP, etc. Can't help but feel like he's calling down the thunder on a Yaz injury. I don't know how one could count any chickens in regards to Yaz, knowing his injury history, and how he struggles when he's banged up, but...
I just like the fact we have options now. Before with AJ we had no options. Now there are plenty. We have an extra guy who can produce against lefties off the bench for pinch hitting. We got insurance in case of a Yaz injury. We got a reliable backup that we would actually want to play to spell Yaz more games down the stretch so he can rest and avoid a fatigue related injury. We have a trade chip for next trade deadline if we feel Barnes is up to snuff. And a mentor for Puig for all you Puig lovers out there
I said the worst backup catcher to the best can get you .2-.3 wins in a month. That's assuming you view Carlos Ruiz as the best backup catcher, and that he'll perform at that clip over a full season, which is so far from reality it's not worth the debate. As I said early in the thread, Ruiz is probably a 60/40 bet to outperform Ellis on offense the rest of the way in their limited playing time. It's inconsequential.
And I'll say again that that's a legitimate counter. I will still say it seems more likely we could have got a backup C and kept AJ around through 2016 to give it and the rest of the team finality. Just think it was a move not worth making.
Van Slyke is done for the year Hopefully Trayce can come back but idk, haven't heard anything about him and he freaking broke his back
We are thick in OF right now. Would like to have more guys that hit lefties but it looks like another righty specialist is coming in Ethier.
Duly noted. And not worth belaboring any further. At least we won't all collectively grown when AJ enters the batters box. And all of these guys are supposed to be Pro's... so move along move along.. nothing to see here move along
Just a word on the "mentor" theory... Puig has already had more mentors than the emo kid at Boy's Camp. What he needs is somebody to slap the shit out of him and tell him to grow the fuck up. jmo though.
Agreed. While he might have struggled during his young Cuba days, I think he's really only been treated like a jock and pampered like one too. He needs to realize his career maybe on the line.
