    This is a good point. Don't rosters expand in less than a week? At which time it will be easy to roster 3 Catchers. For those worried about a Yaz injury, wouldn't having Ruiz AND AJ be an even better backup plan? We could have just left AJ on the roster for September, and then assuming everyone is healthy he's the C left off the postseason roster.

    i only read one article and it was in that article
    they want AJ for next year in order to help groom their young kids
    Ruiz can still play so they worked out a deal to let him go to a contender
    nobody contending is going to want AJ
    so he works best purely as a mentor role
    while Ruiz is a mentor and a player

    I honestly think its kinda dumb to think that Kershaw wont pitch well because there is no AJ.
    Or even worse that he would leave the team because we traded AJ.
    Its really cutting Kershaw short imo.
    Folks show little faith all the time so i shouldnt be surprised.

    I saw an interview with Clayton today on channel 2. He understands the trade and felt blessed to have worked with AJ as long as he did. He said they both knew the end was already near and understands the business. He said they will still be best friends. Even smiled during the interview.
