Feels mean to me to say "hey you suck and we don't want you to play, but wanna stick around?" Essentially retiring him rather then giving him a chance elsewhere to prolong his career

For example, @THINKBLUE and @BlueMouse , they traded Uribe instead of having him do nothing once he had no role here and in turn, he was still able to play the following year cause he had a chance to make a team think he's worth it

Couldn't we have waited until after the Giants series at least tho?

Oh I am aware of the usual sound bites when this happens but has a different feeling about it. Andy McCollough has been there and has tweeted several reactions and it wasn't just lip service. We all know it's a business but the timing is just stupid, the place was rocking and then you trade a universally liked guy in the midst of this roll??????????

Just seems like a situation where he deserves to make the call himself. Let him know they have a trade offer that involves him, and he can either accept the trade or be cut with an option to assist in the clubhouse. AJ would be delusional to think his play has guaranteed him a spot on our roster. But the kicker is that trade could have been made without AJ, no doubt.

Threw out 45% twice in the last 4 years so he did have an arm, as for your anus keep it away, WAY AWAY.

Well, perhaps if they " wait " then they don't get Chooch for Ellis at all, perhaps some other team gets a quality back up like Chooch and LAD is left looking elsewhere?
Enough of us here have said it, that if Kershaw weren't on the team AJ wouldn't be around either.
He's not a good player, not even solid.

No Kershaw then there would be no Dodgers at this point. Chooch has a full no-trade and the Dodgers were on it. It could have happened any time before 9/1.

What I'm saying is that perhaps some other team that he'd be fine going to would've gotten a deal done with Philly.
Is it so important that you'd chance missing out on the opportunity altogether?

That puts the team and Kershaw in a bad situation. Say he said okay, then he looks like a douche for letting go his favorite catcher.

Say he says no. You have a liability on offense whenever Kershaw pitches which is not a good idea, especially in the playoffs.

In this situation I don't think you need to ask Kershaw as long as you talk to AJ. AJ played his way out of a roster spot. Both guys know that. It's completely a PR and clubhouse issue, and it sounds like the FO missed the boat.

Yeah, Im not sure you ask Kerhsaw to say yes or no on the trade, but there has to be some communication so that he is not blindsided by the trade. This could really screw up the club house.....and at such a crucial time.

FO might have screwed this royally!!!

I should clarify, told him beforehand instead of it happening on social media. They may have done that a few minutes before IDK.

You have to get passed the fact the he was expendable on the field and at least warned Clayton or A-Gon they deserve a notification.

I think he should have been informed ahead of time, but the sequence should have been, tell AJ, then tell Kershaw, then the team....assuming Roberts was in on it early with the FO.

But Kershaw shouldn't have been asked.

Look, what I fear most about the trade is not so much the mental effect on the team. These guys are well paid grown ups, and it happens. May happen to everyone on every team at one point.

But is this a sign that they don't think Kershaw will come back, or if he does, he won't be 100%, and so they are opting for more offensive pop, especially with LHP...especially with Reddick sucking so bad.

Clayton doesn't have an ego but he's the face of this organization and sometimes not telling the big kahuna can back fire. He's earned it.
