And this is why Kenley sucks. He’s coddled. This FO and Dave won’t put him in his place. He doesn’t have it. Sucks, but we’re trying to win and we can’t trot out a guy who we can’t trust to not have a clean inning even when he’s on

I always pray so hard that one of Kenley's weak ass pitches will be smacked up the middle off his head.

With his reduced velocity and erratic cutter he has to be spot on with his command. He just doesn't have that.

Sad thing is he had four of the six hitters he faced 0-2 and couldn't put them away. Speaks volumes.

Once again one-third of the lineup (Muncy, Bellinger and Lux) were useless. Bellinger finally got a hit on the only pitch he can handle these days, a fastball below the belt. Anything above the belt and he's overmatched.

Glad Urias made it through six. That's a beginning. Still seeing way too many sloppy breaking balls up in the zone and too many 3-2 counts. Like that Roberts let him pitch his way out of the final inning.

Did I mention the starting staff is in chaos?

Lux has no balls at all,.imo. The hard stare ain't getting it done boy. Muncy has become a liability also.
I've looked at a whole lot of baseball games in my day...a whole lot.
That was the worst regular season loss I ever saw. I don't delude myself into believing the Dodgers aren't, at the core, a punk-ass team. They are. And they prove it every year with the relentless failure...
But that last night by Kenley, even for a team with their loser DNA, was a brick fucking wall falling on their heads.
Jansen is another post season embarrassment waiting to happen.
The choice is Kolarek for an inning. There is enough time to acclimate him to the role...he can get three outs without giving up five runs I believe.
It really has come down to anyone else is a probably better choice than Jansen.

yeah that’s kinda my point, that I made in a clunky way. That the numbers showed someone who wasn’t awful but you watch the stuff and command and it’s like: nope, this dude isn’t an effective closer. And my main concern is that one way or another he’s gonna be put in important spots, even not as a closer, so I hope he has some command come back

true, after yesterday, it’s not good. And yeah that was kinda my point: his peripheral and his numbers don’t look bad but every outing has looked like “wtf, how are people not walking on every at bat or sending this shit to the seats”

I hope that last sentence carries a lot of weight cause that’s where this hurts. Imagine being the best team in baseball and not carrying it all the way cause u were stuck with Jansen. The Dodgers pride themselves on chemistry and good clubhouse vibes but they gotta be a little more ruthless with this

In the end, I’ll reiterate that I’ll honestly look back at yesterday fondly if, and only if, it leads to some sort of bullpen hierarchy change that is better for us in the postseason. This blow up was BOUND to happen, and it’s happened twice this week, and I’d rather it happen this week then October so let’s hope it leads to something positive

Kenley Jansen has admitted to me on multiple occasions that there's times that he realizes he just doesn't have it on that particular night. As a competitor, he will always try and grind through it for his teammates. Roberts has to recognize it and take the ball from him.

Before his last 2 outings, his BABIP against was .188, almost 100 points less than his career average. His walk rate was almost double his career average and he had 3 HBP in only 17 innings. He was primed for major regression, even before these last 2 outings where he looked about as bad as I’ve ever seen any pitcher.

Roberts... “We’ve just got to continue to give Kenley confidence and expect him to go out there and close out games for us.”

It’s not a confidence issue. Confidence doesn’t matter when you throw a 90 mph cutter with no cut that you can’t locate within a foot of your intended target.

The diminished, almost thoroughly absent talents are one thing...but Dave Roberts and his ignorant insistance on Jansen's support, and "hoping" that he can close still in the future, is a childish and tempting failure to a moronic level...and this over rated little man will get what he deserves for it. And handsomely paid, too.
And we, loyal and patiently waiting fans, will all just be watching a replay of another result like so many of the past.

Bellinger hitting 6th again, even against a righty... Looks like he's down in 6th unless he goes on a hot streak. And Lux not getting a start against a righty, hm. Chris Taylor hasn't looked bad all year so I'm not opposed to him being the 2B moving forward if Lux just can't be consistent
