Does it seem like Dre is getting a real look at starting in left? Is it center or nothing and that right now seems to be Joc looking good. If Guerro can field in left and hit the way he has been. Dre could really become dead weight. Easier to count Guerro as the fifth outfielder and keep another infielder.
FIFY and we're not the only team to see him in that light. his best asset at this point would be stepping in for Crawford if he's injured and even then why not just play SVS or Guerrero in LF everyday? and with Heisey being as good as he is as a pinch hitter/fielder..is there any upside at all to keeping Ethier?
Not if we can find someone to take him. the chances of that may be slim and none, not sure how much salary we would eat. His dollar value for three more years is probably much lower than 3 times his 2015 salary.
But he still needs to be paid and officially factored in or out. It just may not go away real easily.
