We have the toughest remaining schedule in our division, and the VaGiants have the easiest. They seem to beat the pulp out of shitty teams. How much are you guys concerned about the schedule? Kinda overwhelming to think about. We have such a solid squad but our schedule totally sucks and the Faggots' schedule is a walk in the park. Think we are naturally the underdog at this point?
If we deserve to be champions, we go through it. We HAVE TO, however, beat our division. I'm not sure of the exact record, but we have been shit against the NL West lately. Win those series and we could be in a good position. This is baseball, you can't complain about strength of schedule or what have you. Play the fucking game. Just win series. That is all that matters.
Well, yeah. I think every team's approach is to just win games and series. Doesn't mean they can execute. They are going up against real good teams that are trying to do the same thing. I agree though about winning division games. Losing 2/3 to the fucking Cockies and Madres in unacceptable, and the best way to take a lead is by kicking the Giants' asses ourselves.
All about proving yourself. We're playing against the third best team in the NL right now. I hope Mattingly has made it clear to the boys to just play. We can't depend of the gnats losing every night. We'll deal with them when we see them. We have to worry about ourselves. Simple as that.
Basically, in August/September we have two rough stretches: The one we are currently going through, and another of Cards/Nats/Reds. We are 6-3 in this one, guaranteed a winning series even with a loss tomorrow, and we won at least 2 out of 3 series. That's handling a road trip. The second series will be tough, Cards at home, Nats/Reds at home. But I just don't feel like that stretch will kill us. In that one, we at least have an off day in the middle of it, not like this one where it was 10 straight games (followed by 3 vs. the Giants). The second one is 10 days with 2 off days. We'll be fine. The roughest part of our schedule is gonna be the roughest part for the Giants also: When we go head to head
ray: If we win 4 games in a row starting tomorrow, we'd be 70-55, and up at least 2.5 games going into the Tardinals series. God I would love to sweep the Giants again. 2/3 is a must though. That's who we play after the Vagiants right?
Well, the fact we play alot against the Giants still helps. We can make the schedule work for us then, and we must beat them because the rest heavily favors the fags.
My heart beats kinda fast when I think about it all coming down to the last 3 game series of the season. Shades of 04.
Oh man...it'll be so fucking nerveracking...I'm not looking foward to it, yet I sort of am at the sametime.
It's all about winning games you "should" win. 6 vs SD 6 vs COL 3 vs MIA Win 10 of those 15 and play at least .500 ball against everybody else guarantees a minimum of 89 wins. Which should put them right in the thick of it.
I see it differently. Look at the teams we lose to. Now, look at who we beat. We tend to get up vs. good competition. It is the teams that we are supposed to destroy that we do not. We need to start executing every game no matter who is across the diamond. Make them JAV. Just another victim.
Rivera and Loney would actually be two. I see math isn't your strong suit. But I not only hear what you're saying, I agree. Problem is the (minor league) cupboard is bare. Oh bestlakerfan will tell you Jerry Sands is the second coming of Joe DiMaggio, but he's fucken delusional. His man crush on Sands is sweet -- it really is -- but his emotions are clouding his perspective. He can't seem to understand that if Sands (and/or Van Slyke) were better options they'd be up there.
I just checked the schedules and the giants' remaining schedule is WAAAY tougher than ours. They have to face the Los Angeles Dodgers 9 more times, whereas we don't have to face the Dodgers at all.
I wrote that in a response a month ago and we have proven it to be true up to this point that we play up to the competition. What makes me mildly concerned is that Gnats have that easy ass schedule left.
