Last year Agon was playing for 5.5 million, he was rich but not Mr big shot in Boston. Shortly after the season started he signed an extension but his "fuck you" money didn't kick in until this year. His power has dwindled every year since '09 to the point it's (a)gone. He is essentially going to be an above average fielding, .280-.290 bat with no power or a slighlty better version of Loney for 21 million.

Sure, he was making $5.5MM last year, but he already had his extension signed and ready to go. He wasn't playing for a contract because he already signed a brand new one that kicked in later. Also, when a team trades a bundle of prospects (including one of their top hitting and pitching ones) for you, then you're kind of considered "Mr. Big Shot" in any town that you play in.

Gonzalez is a type of player that makes adjustments and has said that he is planning on fixing his swing this offseason. Just last year, he hit 27 HRs with a shoulder that required surgery after the season. Sure, he hit only 18 homers this year but he had a career high 47 doubles. That can easily be fixed for a hitter to generate more home runs. To say that he's going to be "slightly better" than a player who has never hit more than 15 home runs in a season and was batting .250 before we traded him is extreme and unjust. This certainly won't be the last we hear of A-Gon.

The beauty of a player getting mexicaner is that mexicans arent usually athletic specimens to begin with.
So when they go soft and pudgy its kinda normal.
Knowing this mexicaners probably have ways to adjust so they can continue putting up numbers until they are no longer able to bend over at 1b so they become pinch hitters and DH's

Mexicaners get as much as they can from their genetic pool, after that its skill, heart, and corn.
Like with the midwesterner of the past. Skill, heart, and lots of corn.
Tortilla turns to Fat in the body over time.
So does all the corn the midwesterners ate.
And the corn syrup we all eat now.
In the meantime though corn = power.
Yellow Gold, thats why people mine it all through the world.
It gives power to control people through their bellies.

Sorry buddy, there is NO WAY that he is going to be a slightly better version of Loney for $21M per year. The guy hits .300+ every year, walks at a good clip, hits for power, hits lefties and righties equally well, hits a ton of doubles and is a very good fielder. He is without a doubt a top 5 1B.

    That should improve as well.

His ability to hit lefties definitely separates him from the bunch too.

Didn't realize that his plan was to fix his swing, it really is just that easy, of course, if it's that easy why did it go to shit in the first place?

He may have had his contract inked, but he had paychecks that were far smaller than the prime players in Boston and the expense of buying a new life in Boston. He might have been Mr. Big shot to the fans, he wasn't in that locker room. Her couldn't afford it.

He also didn't have a shoulder that needed surgery. He came to Boston after having the shoulder surgery, 2012 was his second season after having the operation and his power continued to decline. It has gone down every year since he hit 40. Last year was his second season after the surgery and he hit 18 long balls and then got traded away from playing in Fenway and AL east bandboxes to Dodgers stadium and other huge NL west parks. He has his work cut out for him.

He has hit .300 or better twice in his career and his .338 in 2011 was based on slapping balls of the monster in Fenway, balls that are out in the NL west. Look at his splits, he hits 50 points lower the last two years away from the Monster. Loney hit 330 once too.

Agon is 30 years and has had three straight years of power decline, he just isn't worth 20 mill IMO.

Is he a piece of shit?? hell no, but I'd temper expectations from what you dodger fans saw him do in SD. I've watched him more in Bos than I did in SD but what I've seen is not super star impressive and largely based on the park he played in.

Tell me what you think his quad-slash, HR, RBI and 2B average over the next 5 years will be...

RBI is tough, too much depends on other people.
    285/340/430/do the math yourself
    16 HRs
    35 doubles

From what I have seen he has transformed himself into a slap hitter and isn't driving the ball.

Maybe the shoulder isn't fixed and still bothering him, maybe bending over to talk to a child last year really fucked up his back. Welcome to the wrong side of 30, without PEDs things will not improve.

Maybe it's his vision, his walks have fallen off dramatically too.

Well a couple years ago it was astronomically high. It's naturally gone down I'd assume.
