    Nice to show up now.

It dont mean nothing if we dont win something. Dont you understand that! You win something, then you can talk about the future.

Just a thought....... You 100% sure our future is secure?

Remember when Joc was untouchable? How do you feel now?

I feel like the season isn't over yet and we could still win this season just as good as anybody else can win now.

And yes Joc is awesome, what are you trying to say?

This is a bad take all around really. It's idealistic and not how roster construction works to say 29 front offices failed every season. And I'm the first guy to say I'd have loved to have Chapman or McGee, but the notion that you first have to gut to farm to win, and then worry about the future doesn't even make sense. Also the Joc take is bad, he's a rookie who's universally considered one of the most valuable 10 or so guys in the game.

I disagree. I think the Pirates felt quite safe after that nine run inning.

Mortgaging the future by "gutting" the farm is not what's in play here.
It's being able to recognize, on multiple levels, what a team needs and what has to be done to correct it. And making the deals and acquisitions to win, and insure the future. And I don't see it being done. Not with quality players in the key spots. And guys like ("the clever signing") Peralta-pure shit.
Roster construction is supposed to be so important here, so it is, so what does it say when considering the present state then?
It's absolutely true that no lead is safe with this BP, no matter how deep the starters go...if at all.
That's a huge weakness...like Mattingly...and the talent we have now, and into the future, may be substantial enough to get to the post every year, and to continue losing in it, like always in the past. Because what's been done to correct our problems is useless. That's mortgaging the future, too.
If that gives some a feeling of insolence, and satisfaction in their smugness, then this team is "constructed" perfectly. For them. Not to win it all.
IMO, looking at the recent collapses out there, and coming up with "we are OK" is pissing on our heads and telling us it's raining.
Even a successful team like the SF Giants, the most successful MLB team in recent history, was willing to move a top prospect to get back, and they don't have to prove anything to anybody. They've already done that. We have been looking up at them for quite a while now.
And to say we know better than that team would be the words of an asshole with their eyes closed..

Sorry for horning in but nothing is 100% sure but death and taxes but the experts rank our farm as top 5 so all we can do is wait for them and hope we hit on the occasional FA. We have won just not lately which is frustrating obviously for all but we're not alone if that makes everyone feel better. :D As for Joc he is still untouchable and I still have confidence in him just not 100% to get back to the theme.

As for this series what a debacle!! Every fucking time we scored they seemed to score. This season long MO of not getting shut down innings from our pitchers has me pulling my hair out.:banghead:

This is the thinking that gets us in trouble.

Former "untouchable" players: Matt Kemp, Todd Hollenworth, Raul Mondesi, Eric Karros, Chad Billingsley, Zach Lee.....it goes on.

EVERY PLAYER IS TRADABLE. This is the reason why the Guggs were supposed to change things around. We could stock up our farm system AND pay for the FA and trades to....quote/unquote....put us over the top.

Rentals? What does that mean when you have an upcoming FA that you can throw mounds of cash at to re-sign.

I don't get this mentality. This is NOT what the Guggs were supposed to be about.

That's what I am saying. We gave up on Price, Cueto, Hamels.....AND Olivera...you know the guy we paid millions just to talk to, for middle of the road starters who can't get past the 5th inning, and BP that have literally historically been bad for their new teams.

That is what I am saying. I'm just so tired or this same crap year in, year out.

pretty safe to say we're all frustrated and there's opposing views
i don't think anyone here is suggesting gutting the farm system entirely
but there is a time to give up something to get something
dealing olivera really shows how highly kasten regards prospects
may work out, may come back to bite us... but that's the chance you sometimes have to take
i'm not as up as some of you one the prospects, but i do know i wouldn't have dealt seager or urias
however, gebbeth is right -- everyone is tradable... for the right price
if the angels offered trout for seager or urias...
    i know, they probably wouldn't
but if they did, wouldn't you at least have to listen?
now none of us really knows for certain what's going on behind the scenes
and if getting hamels, price, cueto or chapman would have cost us seager or urias, then i get it
but it does seem like we probably could have done better than latos and johnson if we were open to [consider] trading de leon, barnes and/or others
    rant over... for now

I'm sure the GuggenGods are listening, but no one is going to make them an offer they can't refuse. Let's face it, it's Halloween and the Dodgers have the best candy on the block. No one is going to offer them a deal that actually gives the Dodgers a break, it just doesn't work that way. Every team in baseball is trying to leave the flaming bag of shit on our doorstep while they try to make off with all the Reese's cups and Zagnuts.
