AAA beat writer saying he expects Joc up before September...

 

I wouldn't say that, i'm just keeping it realistic. His AA numbers are a much better reflection of the player I think he'll be.

 

You do know, that he was basically the best hitter in that league with those numbers, right?

 

Indeed. I just feel like .270/.360/.460 or so is a lot better reflection of the player he'll be, and that's good. I don't see him Slugging .580, or OPSing over 1.000. The strikeouts concern me, but are tolerable because of the walks, and to his credit, his platoon splits are a lot better this year.

But hey, i'll gladly be wrong.

 

Well nobody OPS's over 1.000, but yeah, even so I'll take an .820 OPS guy with solid defense and some speed.

 

That's pretty valuable these days.

 

I think the people that are going to be disappointed by Joc are the idiots who think he's going to come up and go Puig on everyone. I would like to see him up with the club soon, but the #FreeJoc stuff is also a fun joke some of us have here.

 

That AAA beat write is out of his mind!! (sorry cannot seem to quote) Who would he replace? He's not coming up before Sept. 1 I guarantee it!

Again who would he replace? Joc will be up 9/1/14. Now if he comes up and someone on the active roster gets hurt then he'll be able to be put on the playoff roster then.

 

Frias? Triunfel? who cares, it doesn't matter to get him up for a day

 

Call him up to waste away on a bench, come on get serious an outfielder didn't go on the DL an infielder did. Not happy Triunfel call up either but management knows something they aren't telling us about Guererro.

The whole premiss to this debate is the issue of being called up before September 1st. I'm saying it's pointless to have him sit up here. Let him finish the last 13 games left in the Topes' season and maybe break a record.

 

I'm not saying call him up tomorrow, I'm saying calling him just prior to September to get him playoff eligible, he'll miss 1 game of action at AAA, but again this is probably all for naught, because management sucks.

 

Agree.

There's a reason he hasn't been up yet and that's it. The beat writer is guessing based on performance, not on the logic of protecting options/arb years.

 

Yep, I wonder if there is a mental scar that isn't healing.
