We are less than a month away from the start of the international signing period.

Here are the guys in the top 30 that the Dodgers are considered favorites to sign.

#2 RHP Yadier Alvarez (we all know about him)
    #5 OF Starling Heredia
    #21 SS Ronny Brito

Why aren't we the favorites for Eddy Julio Martinez, Lucious Fox, Vlad Guerrero Jr., and the rest of the top 25 ifa's? I thought the plan was to sign literally all top tier ifa's this signing period and not give two shits about the money.

Weren't we favorites to sign Moncada and Yasmany Tomas? Point is it doesn't matter if we are favorites it doesn't automatically translate into a signing.

When paying a dollar for dollar tax on overages, gotta stop somewhere. Alvarez on his own will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $16M (or almost $29M after the tax). It's never going to be to sign "all" of them, it's signing more (and better) than usual.

They did make the highest offer to Moncada, but it came with the qualifier that he wait until July 2 to sign so they could still pursue these other guys. Signing Moncada at the time would have put them under the 2 year $300k per player penalty.

They actually never made an offer to Moncada, believe me

There are 29 other teams. Impossible to spend that much money and time on all the players, people would lose their jobs and 20 of the 25 will bust anyway

Didn't they offer him top dollar but only if he agreed to push his signing to the next international period?

That rumor was floated and could be true, but I heard they never actually gave him a formal offer.

Vlad Guerrero Jr has had a verbal deal with the Blue Jays for the longest time. like before Friedman took over the Dodgers long. I think we're interested in Fox
