Again, Crawford's dynamite defensively, acknowledged that initially.
And just on it's face, Crawford is maybe their best everyday player.
However, w/the holes they currently have elsewhere they could really use more offense out of him to make up for those holes and he's probably not that guy.
Ultimately, I'm meh'ing at a guy w/ a 107 wRC+ because SFG needs more offense..he's good, but he's not scaring me offensively and he's maybe their best everyday player..that's a problem from a SFG standpoint.
They need to do better building around him, or they need more from him.

Orioles and Trumbo are re engaged in contract talks. Having some of the last of the big guys sign could get teams to finally move pieces around. I think other teams may not be rumored interested, but they're likely kicking around for a deal that may no longer come. Though I will admit, with being less than 4 weeks til Spring Training, there may not be much left teams want to do.

It looks like it will be a 3 year deal and it is close. Dodgers will lock in with the 23rd pick

Will be happy to see Trumbo back in BMore and not w/the ROX
They still scare me more than SFG tho

I really don't see anything major in the way of trades happening at this point. Like you said many times, the Nationals screwed up the trade market. So now the new GM in Minnesota is hesitant to make a deal that would help his team because the deal will be compared to the ChiSox deals. What a waste. The good news is, as B2B pointed out, a lot of contending teams are set at 2B, so if that's still our issue at the trade deadline we might not have a lot of competition for trades.

I imagine we will at least sign someone like Chase Utley for depth. The fact that we haven't signed someone yet could mean the FO is still looking around? Personally I'm fine going into the season with a Kiké/Utley platoon, then reevaluating our needs closer to the trade deadline. Our needs could always change.

I didn't mean necessarily anything too major, but there were rumblings that some teams were still waiting for a couple of the bigger chips to finally fall before making their moves. The Dodgers are still one of those teams that is a little crowded in certain areas (SP and OF) while being weak in other spots still(backend bullpen, 2B). Bah, you're right, nothing exciting is gonna happen. Stupid fucking Nats.

On the Utley front, I wonder if the team tries a MiLB deal with an invite to spring training. They were obviously hesitant before when they eventually dropped Johnson, now would probably make the decision a little tougher after the Utley dropoff at the end of the season. Just wait to see if someone goes to the 60 Day and then bring Utley in then.

The Rockies are so fucking stupid. I wonder if they regret that Desmond deal yet? Twice the money than Trumbo got and won't put up near the production.

surprised we're [presumably] not in on blanton
    blew up in the post
but pitched great during the season
maybe something led to that ineffectiveness and the nerds are wary?

....or they're just waiting him out and hoping to get him at a cheaper price. I'd love to see him back.

Also possible there is a 40-man roster issue. And they simply don't have room.

I wanna see how stupid they get in this CarGo extension they're supposedly interested in
He's played 150 and 153 games the last 2yrs, so they're probably about to get real stupid for a 31yr old OF w/ a lengthy injury history

Well, as stupid and potentially overpaying these Rockies may be ( or not), they look pretty damn good to me.
Oh, and just sign Utley, even he's only effective until July 31st.
    Or June 31st.
    If there was one.

Looks like LAD's spoken to TEX about Profar who's been blocked there by Andrus/Odor and probably needs a change of scenery.
Can't believe Andrus is only 28, been around forever

They supposedly are. I think the relief market has stalled until Holland makes a decision, then the rest of the chips will start to fall. Blanton seemed to be just totally worn down by that point. Besides Jansen, he was the only one pulling his weight at that point. Dayton needs to put it together for the whole season, plus Liberatore needs to stay healthy. After that, the mix they have in the pen should be solid place setters. Ravin will be interesting to watch, he was lights out down the stretch and woulda been on the postseason roster, had he not gotten popped for PED's.

Elaborating on what @Fall Winslow said, Rosenthal is reporting the Dodgers have "cast a wide net" on finding a 2B replacement. Profar has been discussed as well as other options like Dozier(again), Forsythe, Cesar Hernandez and Wilmer Difo. It's all been just kicking around and seeing the prices so far and nothing is close.

Maybe that'll help him stay healthy as he ages
