i remember being at a game with my dad sometime between '68-70
back when everybody in dodger stadium had a transistor radio blaring so we could all hear vinny's play by play
9th inning sutton is tiring but trying to finish
alston dispatches adams to the mound
no more than 5 seconds into the visit, adams suddenly [and uncharacteristically] motions to the pen for jim brewer
vin [and i'm paraphrasing]: "well, that's odd. i guess red must have seen something..."
later, jerry doggett had sutton on the post game show...
responding to jerry's what happened out there?
"red came out and asked me how i was feeling, and i said fine. not convinced, he then asked me to look him in the eyes and say it. i told him i couldn't. like a father he said, that's okay big fella... you go relax and we'll get the w for you. i knew he was right, so i did what he said"
later alston -- who had never before had someone other than himself make a pitching change -- defended adams
"yes i was surprised. but red saw something. no one knows our pitchers better than red. so i trust his judgement"

funny how more than 45 years later... and i still remember it like it was yesterday
i have a lot of memories from back then
and my favorite is from the only world series game i've ever attended
still the loudest collective roar i've ever experienced in person...

And it is not like they are getting shit, they are getting one of the top pitching prospects in the game! Just fucking weird unless the Twins have a notion that he would resign in two years if they kept him.

That's the big question right now and Bowden touched on it. He said some people think they just wanted to test the water as once De Leon was dangled, they should have pounced on it. There is some belief that they think they could potentially be good next year with their core, but fuck their pitching is shit.

I think they saw what their division rival did and their eyes lit up. They're still chasing that dream. Someone is so worried about looking bad that they are incapable of making a decision.

Dodgers should just pull DeLeon from trade talks with the Twins once they come back to the table.
    Offer them Brock instead.
When the Twins ask why tell em that DeLeon is part of another deal they are working on.
DeLeon, Verdugo, Sheffield, Abdullah, and Toles or Puig for...
Carlos Torres, Ryan Braun and Jonathan Villar... who else would i say? :D

    Villar
    Seager
    Braun
    Turner
    Gonzales
    Puig/Toles/Ethier/Trayce
    Joc
    Grandal

And this weak ass " we wanna give Dozier peace of mind " card the Twins are attempting to play is so fake.
How's revisiting a Dozier trade at the deadline giving the player peace of mind?
Dude's gonna deal with a gang of rumors yet again in 4 or 5 months.
Wanna give Dozier peace of mind?
Trade him or give him an extension.
Thats what I'd be saying if I were Dozier's rep.

Good point. The fact that the deal isn't completely dead yet means they were lying once again. Just another one of their games to create leverage where there is none. It's almost a shame that we match up so well with them for a trade - in the end it will be great if we can land Dozier, but man Minny really needs to shit or get off the pot.

Dodgers security guards charged with stealing from team
By Clyde Hughes | Newsmax — 3 hours ago

Two former Los Angeles Dodgers security guards have been charged with stealing merchandise from the team and reselling it with the help of a third party.

Juan DeDios Prada, 58, of Palmdale, Fernando Sierra, 62, of Lancaster, and Jesse Luis Dagnesses, of Huntington Park, 51, entered not guilty pleas in connection with the case Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to KCBS-TV.

Deputy district attorney Daniel Merrick said Prada and Sierra were ordered to stand trial for a felony count of conspiracy to commit burglary and one felony count of second-degree commercial burglary.

Dagnesses faced one felony count of conspiracy to commit burglary and one felony count of receiving stolen property exceeding $950 in value, including baseballs and baseball jerseys, KCBS-TV noted.

"According to the criminal complaint, Prada and Sierra both worked as security guards at Dodger Stadium when they allegedly conspired with Dagnesses to steal baseball equipment, uniforms, and merchandise and sell them online," said a statement from the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

"Case BA444400 alleges Prada and Sierra used masks, gloves and headlamps to enter a locked equipment room and steal more than $3,400 worth of equipment between January 2013 to February 2016," the statement continued.

According to court records, a lawyer for the Dodgers discovered on eBay memorabilia for sale that was described as a game-issued bat of centerfielder Joc Pederson and a 2011 game jersey of former manager Don Mattingly, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"My contact works at the stadium," the seller said on eBay, according to the affidavit, noted the Times.

The eBay entries, which were allegedly tied to Dagnesses, sparked an internal investigation, which then was joined by the Los Angeles Police Department, the Times reported. The continued investigation led the to the homes of Prada and Sierra, longtime Dodgers Stadium security guards, being raided along with that of Dagnesses, the newspaper noted.

Dagnesses's attorney Jacob Glucksman told the Times that his client "strongly denies any criminal involvement" in the case.

"Any evidence that he knew or did any act in furtherance of this conspiracy is extremely weak and based on inferences made by investigators," Glucksman told the newspaper.

The district attorney's office said that all three are expected to appear for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 16.

Or just don't say anything at all. Dozier is a big boy making plenty of $ to put up with trade rumors. We have a lot of guys on our club dealing with trade rumors - hell, Ethier has been on the trade block for 8 seasons now.

I saw the Javier Baez suggestion too. It might be egotistical, but I think the Cubs are probably the last team in the majors we'd want to make a deal with, and they'd probably say the same of us. Plus I don't know how expendable he really is for them. Seasons are long and things happen. With the position flexibility of Baez (and Zobrist), I could easily see Baez playing in 100+ games with the Cubs.

    Also.. Baez is a bitch.
