Cardinals are said to be considering a pursuit of Edwin Encarnacion, which is what I was worried about after giving up their pick for Fowler. That would make things really interesting, but also make the Central a battle of the two have's, beating the tar out of the three have not's. The market for the big boppers is looking like it is seeing a price drop, which is where we will see more teams get interested in said players, but then watch has a bidding war takes them back up to more respectable prices thanks to the more serious interest.

Jayson Stark reiterated this morning that the hold up for the Dodgers is they are waiting on Turner and Jansen to make their decisions. Once those shoes drop, they are ready to make their moves as they have a litany of moves lined up in those events. So it will likely be like the last two off seasons when one thing happened, it was followed quickly by 2-3-4 other deals.

There was word out of Jansen's camp that a decision could still come this weekend even with the wedding. It would be nice for him to finally fucking do something as pieces are really starting to fall off the board in the pen. Though good options still exist.

Right on cue: Heyman is reporting that everyone is waiting on Jansen right now. He's got his offers, now he needs to decide.

Very weird how long it is taking for him to decide. I realize that he has a wedding, but you would think he would have wanted to have settled this before that all went down instead of potentially thinking about it through the whole celebration. One thing that is interesting that I heard on the radio from the DC guy that I mentioned the other day, as well as a couple others later in the afternoon, was that apparently the Nationals clubhouse is TOXIC. The reactions of a couple of the Nats players (including Harper) in regards to the Eaton trade showed that there is a bit of a separation in the clubhouse and the guys who are the biggest problems are still around. If I remember right, Eaton is also looked at as not a great guy for the clubhouse(which the D'Backs cited for trading him, I believe), but I very well could be wrong. It will be interesting to see how he views the Nats situation, Marlins (not a great team, bad owners) and Dodgers to make his decision which could explain the extended time it has taken for him to make a decision. In that I mean the Dodgers may have the lowest offer, but are offering him the best chance to win over the length of his contract and a level of comfort. I could be way off with my assumption and am reading too much into this, but normally if you have the highest offer and that is what matters most, you jump on it before it is gone.

Whatever a bitch would do in this position, that's what Kenley will do.

Umm, these out clauses save teams from having to pay huge money for diminishing vets as well.
    Hello, Zack Greinke.

i am sure he's getting plenty of attention from the local girls but i doubt the dark poon is enough to keep him down in Curacao
he'll be back and i hope he signs w the Dodgers soon

I can guarantee you that this front office gives zero shits about what Clayton Kershaw thinks about the way they're handling this offseason.

Not the best article by Ken Gurnick. It also doesn't quote Kershaw at all, just assumes he will factor Kenley into whether or not he opts-out. Really it's a Kenley fluff piece, because Gurnick is around the team all the time and probably just likes Kenley.

    From the article...
Maybe. But my guess is the estimated value of what he can make as a FA is a data point 1,000,000x more important.

I'm not sure what is being said here, but the article was talking about Greinke and Kenley right before this. If he's referring to those two, and they go to Arizona and Miami, then I'd say the opposite is true. Who are these vets who have "made their money and now just want to win"? There's literally 1 player a decade who signs a contract with a team just so they can win.

    That's just poor logic.

Probably Gurnick just fluffing up Kenley to show him he is very important and key so his ego feels validated and he comes back to the Dodgers at a contract that is less than the one Chapman got.

I'm not so sure. Now if he didn't have the opt out then I'd say absolutely they don't care but since he does I'm pretty sure they care a little. IMO signing Rich Hill was the 1st sign because it's been reported that he and Kershaw have a mutual admiration society going.

If they were willing to trade AJ Ellis last season, then I doubt they are worried too much about Kershaw's opinion on whether or not they overpay a relief pitcher by $30 million.
