so our options for 2015-2016 at 2B and 3B are now: Kendrick, Uribe, Turner, Olivera, Guerrero, Barney, Enrique.

It costs a lot of money but I mean to have that many options in the likely event of injuries/down years/busts is phenomenal IMO.

The Olivera deal is large and a bit scary but it didn't cost any players and as far as we know, doesn't stop the Dodgers from signing someone else.

Since Olivera is older, his signing doesn't affect the July 1st guidelines. Meaning, theres no penalty for signing him

Not sure what to think of this signing either... but at least we have the money for it I guess.

Lol, I have no fucking clue what their plan is. I'm assuming they 100% let Uribe and JRoll walk next year. Then we'd have Seager, Guerrero, Kendrick (assuming we sign him, which I think they will), Oliver, Kike Hernandez, Sweeney and anyone else they sign for 3 positions.

From one perspective I really like it because it creates a great environment of competition and makes sure that the players compete and play the best they can because if they don't there is someone right behind you to take your spot. As a USC fan, this is what happened during the Carroll years and the team THRIVED. Granted, there is money involved here, but with this FO & Ownership, it seems like that factor is as minimized as is possible.

From another perspective, I don't like it because I'd rather have Jamie Shields on the team and in the pitching staff. There was a clear spot for him and he would've been slotted as the #4 starter creating a BEAST of a SP rotation.

Anyways, it's their money and as long as they keep spending it making the team better, I am all for it.

Very interested to see how this all plays out.

Right, because of his age, which means less upside as compared to Yoan, and possibly less durability. There's a reason why the rules were made this way.

But again to my point, why blow so much money on this guy with the question marks already there? Is there anyone else worth signing come July 1st? If not, why didn't we roll the dice on Yoan?

Do we really know this guy's real age. You know that had been a problem in the past. And his agent's refusal to grant an MRI would worry me to death if I wad going to throw that kind of money at him.

    I don't get it.

If he does end up having an issue with the elbow, get taken care of, and take over for Uribe in 2016.

They offered Moncada more money than the Red Sox, with the caveat that he not sign until July 2nd so they could sign other high profile amateurs along with him.

Interesting, not unlike what Lackey is doing with STL. Would have expected less money in that year as opposed to more years, but I guess he's not a pitcher.

I think it makes perfect sense given that Uribe and Kendrick are not guaranteed past this year. They probably want Uribe to walk unless he is willing to sign as a utility for 2016 and there's no guarantee that Kendrick doesn't follow the money out of LA. The only question that remains is what role does Olivera play THIS year? Does it open the possibility that the Dodgers try to shop Uribe mid-season?

Maybe not. Maybe they find a way to dump Ethier AND Crawford. It would make sense in the grand scheme of lowering the payroll and getting younger.

Well, you are the guy who says he ignores Gammons' and Clayton's updates and only listens to Schefter, etc. He probably got us mixed up, but it matters not.
