I was surprised the Kemp card was played so soon as well. Figured he wouldn't fall until after the winter meetings adjourned.

The Dre trade had already fallen apart with Arizona and Friedman wanted and needed to make a succession of moves as did Preller in SD. Kemps trade was a very important first step for each. I wonder if there are/were more moves by both GM's that have gotten side tracked or are on hold. Preller wanted him as a first step and Friedman needed to move an outfielder.

    • Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers are close to a minor league deal with Taiwanese right-handed pitcher Chin-hui Tsao. Tsao, 33, hasn’t appeared in the major leagues since 2007 with the Dodgers. He has a 5.40 ERA over 88⅓ career innings, most of them with the Rockies.

Shaikin notes that the Dodgers have gotten the approval of MLB before attempting to sign Tsao. The righty was reportedly throwing in the mid-90s this winter.

Tsao coming back throwing 97, look out... lol but on the real I don't know why I've seen people (not on here) fret over the signing of a minor league reliever. lol.

He was never charged with a crime just banned which isn't to say he didn't do it but there was some doubt.

Sergio Santos Nearing Minor League Deal With NL West Club
By Steve Adams [December 29, 2014 at 3:57pm CST]
Sergio Santos is nearing a deal with an NL West club, reports Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith (Twitter link). The contract, expected to be of the minor league variety, will contain an invitation to big league Spring Training with the unnamed club, he adds.

Santos, the former White Sox and Blue Jays closer, has fallen on hard times over the past three seasons due largely to injury issues. The converted infielder battled a forearm strain in 2014, a triceps strain in 2013 and underwent surgery in his right shoulder to repair a frayed labrum in 2012.

Prior to his injury issues, Santos posted a strong 3.29 ERA (2.97 FIP) with 11.6 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 in 115 innings with the White Sox. After being traded to the Blue Jays (in exchange for prospect Nestor Molina), Santos struggled in 2012 but was outstanding in 2013 prior to his triceps injury; he posted a 1.75 ERA with 9.8 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9 in 25 1/3 frames out of the Toronto bullpen that season.
