Yeah, that was what I was talking about. Not at the same skill level as Utley when he came over, but the kind of dude that you just want in the clubhouse.

Heyman had a long piece about all the FA's today with his and an expert opinion on #'s and some indication of who will have some interest. Couple of notes from it:
    • He did not list the Dodgers as a team expected to have interest in Bryce Harper. They are predicting an 11 year deal! If it comes to that, he has to be going AL, imo.
    • Machado probably knocked a couple teams out of his bidding due to his playoff attitude. I don't know if I read this right, but it appears that he has heard the Yanks and another team have moved on from him.
    • Dallas Keuchel is said to prefer a large market organization like LA or NY. I don't see the Dodgers pursuing him at all.
    • They do not have Grandal getting a big contract. The "expert" has a better deal than Heyman does, but I am starting to wonder if the Dodgers pass on offering him a QO. Still in the boat that they should.
    • They both think Ryu would probably accept a QO offer if it was extended to him. Seriously, if both Ryu and Grandal took QO's, that would be great for a Dodgers team that is already dropping a couple big contracts after the season.
    • Andrew Miller may need a 1 yr prove it deal. I think he would be a great fit for the Dodgers, but don't forget that he passed on more money from LA before as he felt that West Coast baseball was just not that exciting....
    • Jed Lowrie is probably in line for a 2 yr deal in the 15-20M total range. He is off of back to back very good years and could be someone the org looks to for 2B, especially at that price.
    • If Freese is let go, they expect a 2 yr-$10M total deal.
    • Dozier is in line for a 1 year prove it contract. Still would not be shocked if the Dodgers tried to retain him if that is the case since he was playing injured virtually the whole season.
    • Madson probably is looking at a 1 yr $4M-5 contract. World Series likely cost him money after NLDS and CS made him some.
    • They think Hunter Pence gets a 1 year deal... it better be out of the fucking NL West. Not many players I hate watching more than him.
    • Hanley is looking to make a comeback!

    Just now from Heyman
    • Dodgers and Freese have "momentum toward a deal".
    • No word on Kersh.
Not just from Heyman, but around the league.
    - The early expectations in the Realmuto sweepstakes are that the Red Sox, Astros, Phillies, Braves, Nats and Yanks are going to be the hardest pursuers. The Dodgers are an outlier here, some expect a tepid pursuit, but probably not willing/able to match other offers out there. I personally do not think we have a great relationship with the Marlins new management. We were rumored to come in second last year for Yelich(meh return from Brewers), Ozuna(meh return from Cards) and Stanton (uhhh return from Yanks). The Marlins were said to consistently be asking for Verdugo and/or Buehler in deals which compared to what they received is asinine. The other reason some folks think the Dodgers will not strongly pursue Realmuto is that they think Ruiz is gonna be a star and that Will Smith is going to be very good as well. It is all talk at this point and I would love to see them land Realmuto, but these two FO's may not see eye to eye.

Very doubtful, the Dodgers are probably going to make more than a couple of trades. There was no speculation in that article outside of Harper, Machado, Kershaw and Keuchel on where guys may be going, then if a player would accept a QO or not. I mentioned the others since they are the Dodgers FA's or players that could fit the bill for needs.

Just a reminder, the FO is not going to comment on specific players they are targeting outside the org. They are still not allowed to comment on other teams FA's so when they come away basically saying that the roster will look similar to last year, that is them doing what they always do and keeping things mum. This is more interesting in that it should shed some light on Kershaw, Freese and maybe either or both investigations.

    Summary from interview:
    • Kershaw negotiations are "pleasant" and "ongoing"
    • They are optimistic that a Roberts extension gets done and don't see any obstacles from closing up a deal
    • Zaidi had no comment about Giants job
    • Friedman says that they blame the offense for the WS loss and admits they sucked for the NLCS too
    • They feel they have a strong core group of players, but not willing to say how much turnover that we will see.
    • Friedman said they have "plenty of resources to win a World Series next year.
    • The entire coaching staff will be asked to return in 2019
    • Japanese media sends some of the dumbest fucking reporters known to man out here to cover sports.
    • They were asked about Machado, but it was in regards to his hustle and did not give much of an answer.
    • When asked about the bullpen, they cited the lack of success folks have had in FA filling this void. They are going to address it, but are going to be "resourceful" and not just throw money at it.

I actually wouldn't be shocked by a number close to that, but I think they would load it with incentives based on starts, innings, Cy Young votes etc. maybe like $10M annually in incentives so that if he pitches to his former capability he still gets paid like one of the best.

Jeff Passan seems to think 4 years is the likely outcome as well.

It’s been clear that Clayton Kershaw wants to stay with the Dodgers. It’s clearer now, with the extension of the deadline to opt out of his deal until 4 p.m. Friday, that the Dodgers want him, too. Something like a two-year extension on top of two option years seems likeliest.

I mean there was some insight, but they also aren't going to show their hand on a lot of items.

Dodgers acquire INF Justin Yurchak for Manny Banuelos. Yurchak was a 12th rnd pick in 2017 by the White Sox. Had a good first season, but took a giant step back this year. I like how these relatively "meh' deals are now somewhat intriguing thanks to Turner, Taylor and Muncy.

Great, but the FUCKTARDS quickly dismissed the veiled question about him at the presser saying "They didn't know yet" if they were going to pursue high priced talent.

Does the fact that the FO looks at the offense for blame in the continuation of the dismal failures in the WS, in spite of Kershaw ongoing suckitude, in spite of Madson's epic bed shitting, disregarding Kenley the Big Game Choker, Alexander and Maeda's trash, are they still the cream of the crop for the Nerd Nabobs?
Not even of course, mentioning the fabulously brilliant manager, Dave Robots.
    But are they still?
    Again?
