Reports say Bryce Harper is considering changing his name to B.A. Harper, as the Dodgers are only looking to acquire players who use initials for their first name.

If Pollock is in addition to Harper and Realmuto, I'm all for it. They can utilize what's left of their depth and versatility to keep Pollock healthy going into October, when his better bat to ball skills will be even more welcome. But if he's the only move, it was NOT a step forward. If he's the only move they basically just swapped guys around

Will allow myself to feel better about this signing after they win the WS. Until then, another drop in the measured bucket from LAD
Firm C grade for the org as a whole, waiting for Harper to sign elsewhere before I drop these bums down to a D like your favorite pornstar

Better than not getting anyone. Get Realmuto and we’ll be pretty good.

I mean that’s a really good price if it’s actually 4/55 he’ll be worth that and it’s tradeable in a year

We have plenty of guys to pick up the slack.
But this guy is a pro, one who has proven that he can see the baseball and then swing or not swing as required. Not a guy who goes into the at bat with the idea of swing or no swing even before the pitcher shows him anything.

The bar is too high nowadays to win the World Series.

Something drastically changed after 2015. The tankers and biggest spenders have built super teams.

We need a more potent, consistent offense. We were fortunate to have career years from everyone in 2017

    Vs RHP

    Pollock
    Seager
    Turner
    Muncy
    Bellinger
    Joc
    Verdugo
    Russ

    vs LHP

    Pollock CF
    Seager SS
    Turner 3B
    Freese 1B
    Bellinger RF
    Taylor 2B
    Kiké LF
    Barnes C

    vs RHP? Maybe Muncy?

Hate to say it cuz I like him but at this point it’d really be worth trading Verdugo for Realmuto, he’ll barely play with us if we’re keeping both Kike and CT3

Eh, there's plenty of tanking teams that have done nothing, like the Pirates. Royals were lightning in a bottle and the Cubs definitely built from within. Can't blame em. But I don't think tanking works the same in baseball as it does in say, football or basketball. I'll give you the Astros though.

I could see it being paired with Realmuto, but this pretty much kills any chance of Harper unless the FO pulls a rabbit out of their hat. This deal is actually pretty good for the club in terms of AAV and I'm curious to see if it is front loaded in the event they want to move him later. All signs point after these terms were released to a strong goal of staying under the tax being a real issue(the way the 5th year is structured being an indicator). That's not the FO, that's the ownerships call, which is really fucking frustrating.

    Damn amazing.
A guy as injury prone as Pollock, and people are certain that he'll be worth this contract or that he'll even be tradable down the line. Fuckery on all fronts. Already thinking about trading the guy, so you know it's shit Lol
This guy's age is officially 31, but his body is probably 35, and he's now the captain of the OF
Damn Kersh for being a choker.

Losing Kemp hurts, but Pollock along with Seager, Kiké and Bellinger keeps our team handsomeness pretty elite. Also the obvious Yasmani to Russ upgrade.

    For those wondering:
    Pederson $5M AAV
    Barnes is Pre-Arb
    Realmuto $5.9M AAV

So trades sending Barnes and Pederson out for a return of Realmuto would pretty much offset one another in terms of impact under the AAV. Another thing to remember is that Rich Hill's($16M AAV) name is supposedly still being floated around by the club. This signifies to me that there may still be someone else out there that the club has identified as a target(Kluber? Marwin Gonzalez?) if they can move Hill and his contract. Other than that, there is not a whole lot to do if they insist on staying under the tax.
