And Wood and Kenta itching to throw some more, too.
If they can't do it, Madsen can.
If he can't do it, Kenley can.
Might be interesting to see if Taylor still swings like a madman next season. Given a new hitting coach...
    Or not.

    • A couple of different reports already out today saying that the Dodgers have really prioritized starting catcher and the bullpen early this offseason.
    • This was interesting from Jeff Passan: One veteran market reader today predicted a larger-than-usual number of non-tenders at the end of this month. With free agent volume so high, adding more players to the market could depress prices even more and drive players to accept what in the past would've been subpar deals. I wonder if we may see a shift downwards in $ per WAR value.

He may be better than most at his position in the regular season, but I will be fucking psyched when I see Grandal sign with a different team.

The stuff he does in the playoffs is inexcusable and his constant crying to umps after looking like a jackass at the plate definitely won't be missed.

imo we should -- at the very least -- kick the tires on syndergaard
i know we don't need any more sp's in theory
but a rotation that starts with bueller and thor, with ryu, kersh and hill to follow...
    just saying

Jansen set for November 26 heart surgery
    ESPN — 14 minutes ago

Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen will have heart surgery on Nov. 26, with recovery expected to take from two to eight weeks.

The surgery, to correct Jansen's irregular heartbeat, had been expected. Jansen had a similar procedure after the 2012 season. He is expected to be recovered and ready in time for spring training.

Jansen experienced a recurrence of his irregular heartbeat on Aug. 9 before the start of a four-game series in Colorado, with Jansen calling 911 when an accelerated heartbeat would not subside. His heart had to be shocked back into rhythm at a Denver hospital. Increased elevation can exacerbate an irregular heartbeat.

Jansen went on the 10-day disabled list with an irregular heartbeat and began taking blood-thinning medication. He struggled upon his return, giving up runs in four consecutive outings while taking a loss and blowing two save opportunities and eventually was given the OK to get off the medication.

Jansen had 38 saves and a 3.01 ERA in 69 relief appearances this season. In nine postseason appearances, he had a 1.69 ERA, three saves and 13 strikeouts.

He's someone that I'd trade Julio for as much as it pains me to say that. Something like Urias, Verdugo, Maeda is something I'd do. He's only 26!

Take the Dodgers for example, we may see ~5 non-tenders to open space on the 40-man for the guys who need to be added prior to the Rule 5.

Baseball aside, best wishes to Jansen. This is real life stuff that far outweighs our futile hopes for a title.

MLB Rumors: How Dave Roberts could replace Bruce Bochy and Giants Manager
by NBC Sports Bay Area — 16 Nov 2018

The Dodgers picked up Roberts' $1.1 million option for 2019, meaning he's under contract for next season, but not beyond. If the sides can't come to an agreement on an extension, Roberts essentially will enter next season as a lame-duck manager.

How do the Giants figure into this, you ask? Well, they just might have a managerial opening in one year's time.

Bruce Bochy is entering the final year of his contract, and while the Giants have experienced plenty of success under the future Hall of Fame manager, there is plenty of reason to believe this will be Bochy's last season in orange and black.

If 2019 indeed is Bochy's final season with the Giants, could Roberts be the front-runner to replace him, provided he and the Dodgers don't reach an extension? In many ways, it would be a logical pairing.

Zaidi obviously is familiar with Roberts, having served as general manager of the Dodgers since the beginning of the 2015 season. Roberts was hired as manager the following year, and Los Angeles has won the National League West in every season since, ultimately losing in the World Series each of the last two years.

Giants fans should be familiar with Roberts as well, and not just because of the last few years. The Dodgers manager spent the final two seasons of his 10-year playing career in San Francisco, batting .252 and stealing 36 bases in 166 games for the orange and black. He also played three seasons in Los Angeles and two in San Diego.

There's still plenty of time for Roberts and the Dodgers to come to an agreement on an extension, but if for whatever reason they don't, he could find another home within NL West a year from now.
