Not to go overboard on the Tatis thing, but it sounds like Dave Roberts is also on Tatis' side. Dave said his opinion on some of the unwritten rules have changed over the years.

 

I'm talking in general. However, the point stand whether you are 45 or 95. The coverage is so different. The time is different. The world is different. Baseball has to be different or else be left behind.

There's no improvement gained by stomping on traditional parts of the game that came before...the game has changed by a huge measure already, and having some tradition left still to some degree does not minimize " fun".

Chemistry is created by morale. Morale isn't created the way it used to. Different culture than what you are used to. There is a reason why the most successful businesses are successful today. It's because they have embraced today's youth and in the process created exactly what you are preaching about. Chemistry and morale.

You're entitled.to your opinion, we all are. And I respect that.
But I categorize it as fanciful and unrealistic. Companies are successful because they produce products people want and need, and young people are consumer dollars like the old are. Morever, they'll buy anything and are fucking idiots often. That's not embracing youth, and creating the aforementioned Rube n esque chemistry and morale you wrote of. That's profit margin. That's using youth. That's capitalism.
Your take on it is what the advertising dept. wants you to take away.
Furthermore, it has pretty much zero to do with shitting on the little tradition that is left... not only in baseball, but in our society in general.

What's funny is even with sold out games where you could barely hear a thing, Joc was known to drop audible F-bombs. But now in empty stadiums it's just not fair.

 

J.P. Hoornstra had an interesting piece about the Astros and Red Sox scandals yesterday. It was basically how one person discovered an algorithm to figure out if teams were cheating based on how they handled quality pitches. The 2017 Astros and 2018 Sox had big red flags when breaking down the data while only one other team in the past 7 years had anything remotely similar. It does not prove that a team was in fact cheating, but it could be a way for MLB to see a pattern in a certain club's performance and then begin to investigate if they are in fact breaking the rules. The other team was the 2013 Reds that also had two of the best eyes in the game in Votto and Choo. Interestingly enough, the guys data actually backed up notions from Reddick and Altuve that they did not partake in the cheating at a scale that at least 6 of their other teammates did.
