hard to imagine how they are going to weather this
leave it to the fish to fuck it up
I still firmly believe we will not win a WS with Dave Roberts as manager.
I don't gaf who we sign.
Robots will nullify, or at least, dilute to a great level, any positive we may have established. He's a loser in the brass ring game.
Corey Kluber and Verlander potentially done for the season now. I was pissed about that Rangers/Indians trade, but it looks like the Indians were correct in their assessment of Kluber's worth. Something to watch with Verlander is that kind of strain is usually a precursor to TJ surgery. IF that is the outcome, that likely means that his 2021 season is gone, a $33M hit to a franchise that is rumored to be counting their pennies as they prepare for a stream of their top players becoming free agents.
Springer and Reddick are FA's after this year, Correa is a FA the year after that. I have to imagine their value on the FA market will be somewhat subdued as I suspect certain teams will blacklist them. So maybe the Astros get a discount.
Springer and Correa will get theirs. Reddick is washed up and will get an end of career deal. By the time they hit FA, the cheating scandal won't matter much
Just wondering who a suitable replacement is in your eyes.
In my time on boards of this type the Dodgers have never had a competent manager according to some posters.
I don't have the crystal ball...I would imagine you keep going until you hit on a guy who can put it together and win a championship, imo, what it's all about as a life long Dodger fan. That is perhaps not the criteria or priorities of the ownership, I don't know. Maybe he's doing exactly what they want, or command. But for me , I see an often ridiculous, maddeningly micro managing, sometimes spectacularly inept with jaw dropping decisions that, no matter what, simply continues the Dodgers into the fourth decade of relentless bridesmaids.
As for your time on this board and some posters spouting managerial competence...so...what do you expect from fans of a team that hasn't won since '88 ?
And he's had CY Award winners, best ERA starters and BP, a super stacked minor leagues, MVPs, one of the best pitching coaches in modern bb history, record breaking HR hitting as a team, even great defense...pretty much everything, and for a full measure of time...and what has the result been in the end, every season?
Roberts is a perfectly competent manager.
I don't like those kind of managers.
There are two outbreaks happening in baseball right now, the COVID cases in Miami(maybe Cincy, too) and pitcher injuries. The Astros have been crushed by them, Kershaw in LA and a multitude of others popping up everyday. There is a chance that the abbreviated ST 2.0 could have a long lasting negative impact throughout the game.
boo doom boo
Alex Wood to IL with shoulder inflammation. This would explain his velo being down so much. Sborz is up for now, but expect potentially Tony Gonsolin up in the next couple of days.
The Marlins season has been postponed through Sunday as 4 more COVID cases were discovered today. The Phillies have been postponed until Friday, The Nats have no weekend series and the Yankees are now playing the Orioles. The Reds scare seems to have been avoided, but this season is unraveling quickly. There is a good bit of chatter about expectations of a number of players opting out of the season in the coming days. Tim Collins already opted out yesterday.
The Astros have lost a number of pitchers over the last 48 hours to injury and are scrambling to find fill in's. They just picked up Fernando Rodney from the Sugarland Skeeters. This could be a high scoring series.
Something to watch for is look at the potential for a number of veterans and late arb guys getting the boot in the week/weeks ahead. There is a feeling that the threshold for dealing with shitty performance is minuscule around the game and teams that are either A. Desperate to stay in the hunt, or B. are out of it, will take a chance to see their top prospects get more game action due to the lack of an MiLB season.
The Juan Soto story is getting really weird. He has supposedly tested negative for the virus on multiple occasions, but NOT consecutively. He has been hampered by a multitude of either false-positives or false-negatives.
Outside of the Marlins, there have been no other positive tests since opening day.
If Gonsolin is coming up the rotation just got way better.
Only reason that it may not be Gonsolin is if he is not built up yet. He was another late arrival to camp and nobody is saying why. Could also be Mitch White, who looked pretty solid in his last outing of Summer Camp.
Phew...one Alex Wood start was too much to handle
Yeah a Royals pitcher Foster Griffin also has a forearm strain and Corey Kluber appears to have another major shoulder injury
love gonsolin but he needs to build up
totally in favor of white (racist)
BA is saying that it is looking more likely that Josiah Gray is gonna get the call to replace Wood.
Roberts said that MLB will be taking swift action on the Dodgers players for last nights events. I can't say this enough, but FUCK ROB MANFRED. I hope he is hit by a truck and dies a slow painful death
Players? Lol who else could they punish besides Joe? Fucking stupid
Separate names with a comma.
