I don't have a big issue with Braun winning it for two reasons: It's not called 'Best Player Award' it's called MVP and that makes it very subjective. The second reason is because you could theoretically make an argument for Braun so it's not a stretch. The issue I have is the disparity. No way should Braun have gotten 20 votes to Kemp's 10. This vote should have been 16-14 in favor of Braun, or something like that. That's where the real sham is...
Its okay, Kemp can look at Braun and be like "Bitch, i'm gonna make 20 million soon and I play in LA. You play for Milwaukee and will never make 20 million a year"
dont ballparks and opposition matter though VRP? NLC is full of hitters parks and BAD pitching only bad pitching in the NLW was the Rockies
I get what you are saying, but i've always thought this is weird since every vote is independent. A voter can't think like "Hmm, Braun might get a lot of votes already but Kemp is deserving to lose but not by a lot so lets give him a first place vote even though I think he should be second" Which is why a lot of times even if its just a slight edge that one player has, it'll be shown with this disparity For example, I love Kershaw to death and am stoked he won but he was so damn similar to Halladay/Lee and shouldn't have ran away with it like he did, but he did, cause he had that slight edge.
I'm not saying Kemp didn't deserve the award, he did, but so did Braun. There is no definitive answer for who the Most Valuable Player is, there's no stat that encompasses everything flawlessly. They both had amazing seasons, they're both amazing players, Braun won it this year, hopefully Kemp can win it one day.
I'm honestly surprised Kemp didn't get lower than a 3rd place vote. I was expecting some retard to put him 4th and 5th like they did with Bautista.
One of my friends texted me saying "Braun won cause he is a jew and cause Kemp is black" I don't know whether he's making a joke or being serious lol
I don't believe it's all that independent, to be honest. I think there's a lot of collusion that goes on with those awards. The writers who vote on them are all very public about their intimate relationships with one another. Do you honestly think they don't have discussions about this? In my mind the prevailing thought with the writers was not to give the Cy Young and MVP to two players from the same team that didn't make the playoffs. And that's what's wrong. The real MVP was Kemp in the NL. Bautista in the AL. The real Cy Young was Kershaw in the NL. Verlander in the AL. They got them half right...
Makes sense. I have no idea how much collusion would go on, but if there is it'd make sense what you're saying then. They should do these votes with computers like the BCS does rankings
fuck jon heyman SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman I voted braun mvp on my ballot. He had spectacular year, and I factor in impact on races. a lot of big hits there.
Like I said earlier, it's not as if he didn't deserve the award. Kemp had a better year and was the better player but it's not the 'best player award'. It's very subjective and you can make an argument for Braun...
i dont hate braun he had a great year im only pissed because kemp gets penalized for having bad teammates im sick of the playoffs factoring into these awards
