    Good luck, man...close call.
Take the opportunity if it's your shaving arm, to grow some stud beard or something. Then , when the cast comes off, if you don't like it, make it go away.

I asked my boss at Baseball Prospectus if I should get an MBA or masters in sports management and he said MBA hands down... He went to Brown. I'll take my chances, thanks.

Sports Management or Criminal Justice are the two tops of the list.

Make sure you get an MBA at a school where you can develop a lot of connections. You don't necessarily learn a lot while getting an MBA, so that's what those programs are really about--developing contacts with business people, entrepreneurs, etc.

I heard going to a school where you would be in the highest percentile in your class over going to one of the more prestigious schools with more rigorous scholastic experience is a much more efficient way of giving it the old college try.
Your GPA and how you fared against your peer group will get you hired more than the name of the school, as long as its a reputable school of course.

When De La Rosa gets 25 million for two years from the Rockies............Baseball has too much money.

What does that make a free agent like Lester worth?

De La Rosa would certainly be better than the Haren/Hernandez/Correia trio

I would have to disagree, as far as this being important for a job.

This might be true for grad school, where if you have plans of definitely going to grad school you really should get into a school and/or major where you will have a high GPA cause below a 3.0 and they probably filter you out regardless of context and high GPA's look great for them.

But for a job, a lot of entry level jobs don't even look for GPA. I mean, I've only been out of school for a few months but I'm fairly certain the main reason I've gotten a good amount of calls back and chances to interview is because of my school, and I didn't put my GPA on my resume and I've yet to be asked once about it. It helps to have a great GPA anywhere, obviously, but having a prestigious school on that resume gets people to at least look longer at your application and perhaps decide to call. It's not everything of course, you need to nail an interview and have other stuff, but I think as far as going for a job, it pays off to have that eye popping school.

Not to mention, the prestigious school has a network and connections inside of the school that pays off. I've used my college network to have great opportunities and the school had hundreds of amazing opportunities for me as far as post-graduate career (or education). Idk, I'm trying to say this all without sounding smug or anything but just laboring the point that a school with a great reputation does bode well, and not just beyond what it says on your application but also everything that occurs when you actually attend the school... Given that you take advantage of course.

    not surprised
i've applied and been hired by numerous companies in my years
and some were pretty lofty corporate positions
and never once did anyone even ask for transcripts

This is true. After a couple years, AT MOST, out of school, your GPA means dick. The school and their alumni network mean everything. Again, different story if you are trying to go to grad school, but in the business world, GPA is so irrelevant and so tertiary or maybe quaternay (or even less) that it is not even funny.

This is why I wish I would've gone to USC, because their Alumni network is THE best in LA, hands down. Stanford is also pretty good, but USC alumns are all in positions of power and influence. They, and other alumns, could give a fuck what your GPA is. You could have a 4.0 from LMU, but if you're from their school and have a degree you are in....and this is for more base level/entry jobs.

Shit gets way more intense up the corporate ladder. Your job experience, aggression, work ethic and, most importantly, relationships (of which an alumni network can be very important, here's looking at you USC) are what count.

To add on, most of the top MBA schools don't even publish grades.

GPA was merely a one note supporting actor in the argument yet it is the starring attraction of yalls understanding of what i was trying to convey.
    But do continue.
