Yeah, lots of dynamic scenes...but that one in the yard with just Denzel and Viola was riveting and heart wrenching. Denzel has got some kinda spectacular resume under his belt, man.
Nice to know they still make movies like this.

You could see how that was adapted from the play...which they were both in. All you really needed was the back yard, and the fences as a set, really...little else.
When you look at Denzel's resume and what he's done, imo, he rates up there with the best...
For me...his portrayal of the Union soldier in " Glory" about the all black Massachsetts 54 th regiment in the Civil War is one the finest things you could ever see.

One of my favorite actors these days is Tom Hardy, and tomorrow ( Tues.), his new series Taboo starts on FX.
The story line sounds very interesting indeed.
    Be there or be square.
Btw, Thandie and WW nominated at the GGs, but both turned up losers.
I might be wrong, but it seemed HBO got blown away at a venue they usually rake at for awards. Turned into somewhat of a Trump bashing Hollywood leftfest.
I thought the whole thing a bit of a sleeping pill, and Jimmy Fallon was a yawn, imo.

Did anyone else catch Taboo tonight? I was a little underwhelmed. It seemed pretty monotonous for the first episode of a series, but I think there's enough potential here that I'll at least watch the next few episodes to see what materializes.

was thinking of checking it out because i like tom hardy [homo]
but the trailers didn't intrigue me
    what was it lacking dl?
sometimes the initial episode(s) lag a bit as they're establishing characters, backstory, etc

I don't want to go too much into detail, as I don't want to spoil the episode. It just felt like as they were explaining the backstory, it was the same thing over and over again until the last few minutes of the episode. Not really a lot of development regarding the characters and their background, solely focused on Tom Hardy. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing I suppose.

    Yeah, saw it.
Loved it, not only because of Hardy, one of my favorites, but something really different and love the way they are portraying 1814 London, a scary place indeed.
So far, along with Hardy, Jonathan Pryce ( High Sparrow on GoT) is superb, and there are some top flight supporting actors in there...you'll recognize them from this or that HBO series.
Oona Chaplin is from GoT, too. Some incest going on there, too.
My only criticism ( didn't find it monotonous at all) is the fucking commercials...whoa. They are too often and too many. They really hurt a period piece like this...this show cries out to be on HBO or SHO or something.
Looking forward to it in future weeks. Just need to adjust to all the breaks. Could have great gratuitpus nudity along with the gratuitous violence, which tjere will be. Can always have a body ripped open, but not an evil tit out on TV.
Some of my theories, at this early juncture, I am interested in comparing to others. But the spoiler thing is always like a muffler, and I forgot how to do it. Again.

The quintessential Lou from maybe the best live LP ever featuring the dueling lead guitars of Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner.
