Apples and oranges in light of the fact that all you've done as far as "goals" are is... zero. Nothing.
We talk about winning the WS don't we? Looks like we can't do anything about that either doesn't it? And the statement "losing Dee has not hurt the Dodgers at all" is totally your subjective opinion, and can no way be proven, or disproven. Maybe we can resign Chris Heisey ?
I think the same logic that says it's ok to complain about the Dee Gordon trade because "this is a baseball forum, and that's what we do on baseball forums" also says it's ok to complain about people complaining about the Dee Gordon trade. So carry on everyone.
I wish Dee all the best in his career. He's not the dead horse, the constant reference to him being great and or FO making a mistake in letting him go is the dead horse. BTW, we scored. Hatcher looking good in the back end of the bully, Austin Barnes is a damn good peice, Kike Hernandez is a really good utility player Heany was flipped but was still in this trade as a top pitching prospect at the time for Dee Gordon and a washed up pitcher who is now retired! Ohh and Miguel Rojas! What a return..
You can like or not like whatever about Dee or about the posts about him...that's your perrogative. If you think it's a great return we got for him, good for you. When I made my initial post today, I made no mention whatsoever of the FO letting him go for short end players, whatever. Just reported on him, like others did about Greinke sucking on Monday. What is it, a rule or some shit? You can mention Greinke now, that's OK, but not Gordon? Wtf is that shit? But if the mere mention of his name gives menstrual cramps to certain individuals and they have to cry about it, take some Midol. Or fill up a hot water bottle. Or stick a Glock in their mouths... I'm posting whatever I want to, whenever, whoever I want to post about. If others don't like it, too bad. Life sucks, then you die. Deal with it.
One thing I'd be interested in regarding Dee is how close Kike by himself is to Dee's 10MM annual value. 10MM is peanuts in this era, hell, Utley just got 7MM for 1yr and he reportedly had other offers in that neighborhood. Kike, on the open market, could probably pull in somewhere around Utley's AAV.
I'd think it's probably fair to say we lost that trade in hindsight Also think no one saw this coming from Dee, and if you did, you didn't really have good reason to. Every scout and statistical projection model I saw didn't think he'd be nearly this good.
You can't compare the annual value of a 5 year contract to a 1 year contract. Also, when talking about Dee's contract it's unfair to not mention that it bought out 3 years of arbitration. Dee would be worth considerably more than 5/$50MM if he were a FA. I don't have a problem with the Dodgers side of this trade. I liked/like this trade. I also don't think you need to win every trade in hindsight for them to be good trades - no matter who you are you will win some trades and lose some trades, but if you are scared of losing trades you will never do anything. IMO the Dodgers win this trade because it took Dee playing at his max potential for this to even be close. But Dee has EASILY emerged as the best player in this trade, that's not even in question.
I think if you factor in the degree to which Dee has outperformed expectations and how close this trade still is in hindsight, means the Dodgers have to make this trade 10 times out of 10.
Sure...spin it any way you want. But one is complaining about a move made by highly paid professionals that run a multi million dollar business that will have no interaction with the complainer (poster) at all, and the other is personal and demanding individual restrictions to what a poster can post...sig heil- but, if you think they are the same, then that's your world, not the real one, imo.
I think the same logic that says it's ok to complain about the Dee Gordon trade because "this is a baseball forum, and that's what we do on baseball forums" also says it's ok to complain about people complaining about the Dee Gordon trade, and also says it's ok to complain about people complaining about people complaining about the Dee Gordon trade. So carry on.
