Dodgers and Giants face each other 9 times in the second half of the season (6 of those in LA). Not counting games against each other: the Dodgers have 18 games against teams over .500, the Giants have 30 games against teams over .500.

Assuming Kershaw is Kershaw in the second half, things are going to get very interesting. Maybe even fun. We're approaching 30 years of this no-WS bullshit, not to mention this SF even year bullshit needs to end. And fuck hoping another team can stop them. This is our mess and we need to clean it up. Fuck the Giants. Go Dodgers. /rant

Guys. I just realized Win for Vin is as important as ever. He must call another Dodger world series to end his career. I remember watching an interview of Vin 10 years ago where he talked about calling the first Dodger championship in 1955. His call was, simply "And the Brooklyn Dodgers are the Champions of the world". When asked about why he was so measured in his call, he replied, "If I had said anything more I likely would have cried". Call him a Giant fan or whatever but he loves the Dodgers.

I've always fantasized about Vin's very last moments on air...

(Entering the top of the 9th inning on FOX)

Joe Buck: "with the Dodgers 3 outs away from their 7th world championship, it's only fitting to hear the man who has called all six. We now turn our audio over to KLAC radio in Los Angeles. Ladies and gentleman, here's Vin Scully..."

After that...well, you can't script Vin.

***although it does make me puke that Fox and Buck would have to be in this fantasy. I'd rather Costas toss it to Vin on NBC but that's not the reality.

That is beautiful, man...creative and poignant. Nirvana for a Dodger fan.
Let it be one of the times where it isn't just something that "happens only in the movies".

Amazing that "SF cocksucker" has never been used before here.

I feel you. I think we are all frustrated, albeit at different levels for sure. I hope I don't just have rose colored glasses on from beating up on the Rockies and Padres... then again, we face the Padres and Rockies a lot the next few months.

Just broke down the 2nd half schedule, 41 of 71 against sub-.500 teams (and 3 vs NYY who are exactly .500)

    6 vs PHI (3H/3A)
    10 vs COL (4H/6A)
    4 vs CIN (4A)
    13 vs AZ (6H/7A)
    6 vs SD (3H/3A)
    2 vs TB (2H)
    3 vs NYY (3A)

It is worth noting that the games against NYY aren't until september, after they will have likely traded Chapman and/or Miller and/or Beltran etc.

True, and what they never seem to grasp is that beating the Padres and Rockies, or the DBags enought to get to the post doesn't mean dick when the Phillies, then the Cardinals and nost recently the Mets knock us out. They see a WC as a successful year when in fact it's yet another regression. If taken as a measuring stick, in the series with division leading teams this year, we're 1-3. We were close in 2 of those losses but didn't get it done and need proven help. I just hope they take their heads out of their asses this time and get players that are on a higher level than the Johnsons and the Latoses of the world.

I never thought about the connection between when you face certain teams and the trade deadline. In general, good teams should get better after the deadline and bad teams should get worse. The toughest part of our remaining schedule is right after the break when we go on the road to face the Nationals and Cardinals - but it will be before the trade deadline. Meanwhile, the Giants face the Nationals, Cubs, Cardinals, Orioles, and Mets all after the deadline. Of the winning teams we face after the deadline, the Red Sox and Cubs are the only two likely to make big trades to improve their teams.
