This must be where the expression "turning over in his grave" comes from...

It's started already here in NJ...as of Tuesday past, a rise of 23¢ per gallon for gas is in effect.
God knows how it will effect home heating oil.
All the extra tax money is going for feeding Christie.
As NJ the most densely populated state in the union ( for size) it will not be enough.

As do most of the population of NJ.
Idk if he has totally gotten away from the punishment of shutting down the GW Bridge lanes...the trial is going on now, I think. His aides seem to be giving him up.
But to do it, all it takes is a couple of cones, and traffic between NY/NJ becomes a nightmare in 20 minutes.

you trading young chicks for older chicks again there Rube?

my buddy was raising a half dozen hens and in a single day the local crows broke through his netting and killed them all.

    and left them there

so he tightened up perimeter fencing and started another half dozen.. as soon as they got big enough to be let out in the yard once again the crows, found/made a hole and took a vengeance and killed that batch too. Now he lives in Oregon. Don't know if he's bothered again.

dunno must be something about the MV crows or something

We have a ton of birds out here. Crows by the tons, big black fuckers too. Hawks and eagles too.
There is a large horse barn on the property with about 15 large rooms for animals. Probably 13x13 sized rooms or about.
Eventually when I have enough hens i want to put them in there, with some goats on the other side. Just bring them out to run in the field while im out there making sure the birds dont kill them.

March is a long time. I want to start sooner so I may head down to Norco or find some on craigslist. I had some a fee years ago but someone in the family left the dogs gate open while the hens and roostereo were out picking for worms. Dogs tore them to pieces.

What advice would you give me from your experience?
My wife is afraid of a type of lice or mite she believes can infest the area where chickens live.
How many chickens to get 1000 eggs a year?
I plan on eating that many myself at least.
I'm told a hen produces an egg a day on average by my wife. But maybe Latin chickens are more fertile than our american ones.

Because like politics they lie to u bout eggs. And u follow the propaganda.
Cholesterol is a good lubricant for the heart that appears when your heart is taxed. Diet cholesterol gets crapped out for the most part.
My dad has super high cholesterol.
    He never eats eggs.
And rarely eats meat. In fact my dad has never been a fan of meat or fatty foods. Rarely has cheese products and never milk. He loves beans n rice and stewed vegies. He makes really good hot sauce and apricot jam.
He doesn't drink but a beer once in a blue moon. My dad has always been very moderate in his diet. No sodas very little bread no junk food. Unlike me.
Except he has high cholesterol diabetes and liver disease.
    It's not his diet.
    It's his horrible attitude.
    Cynical and negative and worse.
But he's my dad so I'll leave it at that.
He has never been fat in his life.
I've always gone up and down.
I'm 250 now but all my numbers are good. Cholesterol is even lower than what it was when I was 165 a year and a half ago.
Only bad number is heart rate. BP is good but my pulse is scary high. I've always run hot that way though. 90 to 100 beats per second is normal but last year I was routinely at 140 and the doc couldn't believe it. She gave me a pill.
But maybe all the extra beating stresses out the heart too much and I will need extra cholesterol to lubricate it.
Or maybe I'll just have more heart.
Like that horse that won all them races.
