At the game tonight and I was starting to lose it, out "hitters" showed very little patience. This was my 2nd close game I've been to this year! 2nd win too but I don't think I can take it.

Impressed by managements handling of Carl Crawford. Glad they realized Ethier was done and gave CC a prolonged chance.

I've been saying fuck Ethier, stick with Crawford for weeks. Thank science this board doesn't make any team decisions.

Last night was really beautiful when Turner hit the big fly. Clayton's face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning, and for once, he got what he truly deserved. This is what I meant, exactly, by "picking a pitcher up".
Justin Turner has turned out to be one of my favorite Dodgers, even more than Wilson or Perez. ha.
Does anyone know what kind of contract he has? I hope he goes totally insane against the Mets. Why they let this guy go, IDK, but it was fortuitous for us, that's for sure.

i feel you. i've been saying " fuck Ethier, stick with Crawford " for over a year. Lol Crawford can just impact the game in more ways..hell, even when he's not swinging the bat well he can beat out a routine DP, steal a base or two, go from 1st to 3rd or all the way home, put down a bunt with a chance of beating it out, cover a hell of a lot of ground in the OF defensively with a pretty good glove ( people forget about him making big defensive plays for us in the playoffs last year..going into the stands, crashing against the wall) and then he can serve as a top of the order guy at times as well. although, i love that Dee's come along and pushed Crawford down in the lineup. neither Dee nor Crawford are patient, but Dee has to have the edge at the top because he's arguably the fastest in MLB and Crawford's lost a step ( even though he's still plenty fast).

but probably the biggest factor is Crawford's been nails in late August/September/October in his career. just has way more potential than Ethier in terms of catching a hot streak late in the season and tearing it up, but can also have a decent role player type of impact as well. i love Crawford hitting back to back with Uribe. they definitely hack, but they swat mistake pitches. i just wish Crawford had an arm..his wet noodle arm is probably less of a problem than his other health issues though. now we need to get Uribe healthy and back. Crawford's obviously makin a lot more money than Ethier, but if Crawford has another big post season the front office might be able to get somebody to bite for the right price and then it'll obviously be Joc's time. looks like Boston's moving on from their alleged Ethier-interest from all these years, so he's the one we may end up being stuck with. i like Ethier for spot ABs only..he's disciplined enough to occasionally lay off a 2-0 slider and allow himself to be walked. it's good to have him on the bench. that's where he fits best.

one of my faves too. i mean other than that episode at shortstop he had the other day, he's been right on time. not sure about his contract, but spotrac.com is usually right on top of the details. i'd like for LAD to keep Turner around, for sure.

and yeah, if Kershaw were getting this type of help from his teammates a couple years ago, he'd be receiving his 4th straight Cy Young award this year. imagine that. he should've won it over Dickey that year anyway, but his win total would've put the " great story " for Dickey to bed.

That was so ridiculous. Kershaw was a lot better than Dickey that year but people fell in love with Dickey. I think that might have been the same year that Kemp got fucked over on the MVP award by the cheating liar Braun.

Wasn't the same year. Kershaw won the Cy young the year Kemp got fucked over, Kershaw got fucked over the next year. I mean the #'s were similar, Kershaw had a better ERA and WHIP and one less K, but Dickey had like 6 more wins and he had that feel good story about getting molested as a child.

More then glad to have been wrong that Crawford could turn it around well enough to make it worthwhile to start him. He is clearly better then the alternatives right now. My outrage was always at his slump, but they let him get through it and it's proven to be great for right now (Although, you still can't ignore that everything he is doing great right now is offsetting that slump but, I mean, at least he almost offset it). Hopefully he continues, doesn't get injured, and doesn't fall back into that July funk.

He's been great lately, and finally closed that gap to Ethier :) the wOBA and wRC+ is still lower then Ethier versus righties at the moment, but the difference isn't nearly as large as before but the recent hot streak, defense, and speed make it so you can't justify anything else. I don't think he'll sit for the rest of the year so, cool, he needs to keep hitting like this.
