Some depressing(or encouraging?) notes: The Dodgers' past six homers have been hit by rookies Puig (3), Scott Van Slyke (2) and Tim Federowicz (1) We have only three 3run or better HRs this year. Puig's hit two of them! This team is (was?) in bad shape!
Unreal. Amazing that we have this guy right now for "depth" cause of stupid Crawford/kemp injuries. This is awesome And just as great was Zachary, great to see him have a good step forward
Speaking of depth...Ethier and him sure get along. I hope if Ethier gets traded or benched, there isn't gonna be an issue.
And although everyone seems to think Ethier is gone soon, I don't see that happening with kemp/Crawford having nomar like hamstrings. (And also kemp still not proving he can hit in 2013) But yeah Ethier sucks dick right now but he's still bein great with SVS and Puig, he's not fitting into that "selfish, can't win with him" narrative simers and people love to put on him
If Puig continues this, I kinda just think he was bored as fuck in double A with someone watching over him. That's maybe why he was being such a dramatic dick. Like, he could flip his bat and shit caus who cares, cause now in the big leagues he's just hustling and keeping his cool. And he's like manny, just has fun with everyone. Has fun with Ryu and even shitty players like Cruz
Maybe we can trade Crawford to the Phillies for Cliff Lee so he can play with his cousin in a couple of years
I seriously doubt we have to worry about Ethier getting traded because he sucks too much to get anything in return but getting gang raped for 5 days straight non stop.
Not to take credit away from Puig, but he got a hanging cookie to hit right there. He's seeing way to many good pitches so far, I'm suprised. Kevin Kennedy said it's the veteran pitcher's mentality to challenge these types of hyped up rookies. Man did that guy hang one though
This is an absolutely fair observation but let me ask you this, how many times have our other hitters but served up the meatiest of meaty pitches and done absolutely jack shit with them?
Was at work for the game. Puig is going ham for my other Fantasy team You know the shit is special when Vin is saying things like, "I don't believe it" etc etc. For how much shit he got in the minors for some of his antics, he sure as hell sprints around the bases. Damn near passed up Ramirez after he rounded 3rd. Wanna talk about putting the team on your back, goddamn man.
And a bonus, he hasn't been K'ing like crazy so far, either. Obviously the sample size is small, but I like what I've seen thus far.
of course, you have to watch the in-game clip of the GS about 8 times, then watch the Must C version about 5 or 6. MLB video giving plenty of coverage on Puig if you look at his videos.
Yep...that's what makes a good power hitter...gotta rip the easy shit for sure. That's why I said "Not to take credit away from Puig". It's a good thing he hit those pitches deep, that's what you're supposed to do. and Hanely did a great job not chasing with those runners at 2nd & 3rd. All year that's been a problem with these guys.
I talk lots of shit on Steiner, but when something super exciting happens...he usually makes a pretty epic call.
I don't think it was that much of a cookie. It was a little high for an offspeed pitch, but it looked like it was on the corner. What impresses me is his ability to not be over excited these first few games and pull those pitches to short or third (Matt Kemp style).
So very glad I was so wrong about Greinke. that was a truly beautifully pitched game, and actually the seventh inning, after the RISP and all, he was tough as nails. I hope he keeps it up and is consistent with this kind of performance... great to see. What can you say about Big Yasiel? Amazing. Like Manny's GS against the Reds on his bobblehead game. Only he's on the team for a long while, hopefully. The guy is so strong. Anything he doesn't hit on the ground, looks like it has a chance to go out, anywhere in the park. I guess maybe the leadoff spot is a good call by DBB; he gets more ABs...although I don't think his career path is at leadoff. He definitely can on the Dodgers though, with the potential of the players behind him. Just wow... I haven't seen Kemp in the dugout...is he there?
