I still think the main issue with Puig (from our perspective, that is), is his massive leg musculature...I think he will be a perrenial DL guy- whatever team he's with. I hope I'm wrong, as I think the FO will be reticent to move him...for his overall stats, which seem to be what so many want. But the cold hearted, icy logic, IMO, would be to trade him...as soon as he goes on a short but volatile offensive tear. "Statistics are used like a drunk uses a lamppost: for support, not illumination".
Exactly. Puig needs to play all 3 games this weekend before even being considered for the postseason roster. And he needs to look like FOB Puig who amazed and dazzled us. Nothing less.
hoping that fob stands for fresh off (the) boat, and not fat, obese bkitch or flaming oral bukkake or flatulent orifice blooming or fag of buttlove or...
I still say you take a rusty Puig over at least one of SVS/Ruggiano. SVS has been bad this year, and Ruggiano has had a hot month but, it's a hot month. Choosing 2 out of those 3, one has got to be Puig if he's healthy enough. And, maybe this is all for nothing and he's not even that healthy
LOL, the hate towards Puig is crazy. Guy is a top-15 OF for sure and bring energy and excitement to the team, which this group of wet towels needs. He had a down season so far, OK. But does that mean he sucks? Maybe he is way more injured that he has led on, ever consider that?
I'm kind of doubtful he plays, which would definitely suck. All this might be for nothing but I still think even as a bench role, defensive replacement, he should be considered if he's truly healthy. It's still a week away. I don't think we should hold him to a much higher standard then say, Utley or SVS who simply haven't hit
here's the thing with puig... and i'm not hating on him -- i'm actually wearing his jersey as we speak he's said to be running at 100% that's great, but that doesn't [neccesarily] mean he's going to be hitting/fielding/throwing/baserunning at 100% i think it was codge who brought it up, but there's a huge difference between being in shape and being in game shape is three games enough to show that? perhaps, but probably not but to go from all these rumors from reliable sources stating he was still ailing and likely to miss the lds if not the entire postseason, and then suddenly he's 100%??? no reports he was getting better, showing signs, nothing color me apprehensive, but there's probably more here than meets the eye who knows, maybe he's been improving the whole time and management was trying to play a mind game on the mets oh wait, i [momentarily] forgot who our manager was hopefully these next three days reveal a lot; whether it be good, bad or indifferent but as it stands now... if it comes down to puig taking someone's spot on the roster i hope its not ruggiano take svs or someone else meh, just my and yes, i reserve the right to change my opinions after sunday
that could very well be the case would be weird though if they did that and then added him to the lds roster then again, maybe weird isn't the right word perhaps miraculous or legendary would be more befitting
I don't think anyone is hating on Puig, I think there is doubt and caution as to his actual condition, PLUS questions about his game readiness. I think there is reasonable cause for all the concern. You don't want to throw him in the playoffs only to suck goat custards. The second bolded part is EXACTLY what we are afraid of. That he is injured and trying to suck it up to get on the roster. That would be wrong for him and for the team.
yes and no i mean, mlb felt compelled enough to have him in the hr derby and let's look back... how'd he do in that?
I'm wondering if I'm categorized as one of Puig's "haters...and think he "sucks"? Maybe he is way more injured...I agree...and IMO, will be so for a good portion of his remaining career. I think he has the best arm I've ever witnessed, and is capable of physical feats rarely, if ever, seen before in MLB. A unique and powerful ballplayer, who sadly, has now shown his Achilles uh...hamstring. I believe part of the argument with Puig is simply fucking statistics...in his case, they seem to bolster those who support him and simultaneously, those who don't. A perfect example of Scully's quote I used in a post above. Anyway, I can't see him 100% all of a sudden...unless it's s psychological ploy...in that case, tell us more Donnie. I hope I am compltely wrong, and if there is anyone who can arise Phoenix- like from the ashes, it's him.
Id take both Ruggiano and Puig into the NLDS.. id leave SVS off the roster. If puig was healthy of course. Hes one of the most talented kids in baseball .You dont sit your most talented Positional player if hes healthy. Not to mention the circus behind that decision if he was deemed healthy and left off the roster.. would be a huge distraction ."is puig hurting team chemistry?" "was he left off the team because they dont like him?" All the bs that would be mainstreamed into espn or the la times would be amazing...And something that could potentially hurt this team... Puig carried us into post season play in 2013.Had a very solid 2014. And a oft injured 2015. But his 162 game avg would have had him finished the season with 23hrs and 78rbis..still respectable numbers ....Some here are loyal to long tenured platoon players who asked to be traded (go figure) ill be loyal to the kid who no one likes ...Start the kid if hes healthy!!!!
