Problem with that bullshit is that analysts , which of course all suck, (unless they favor us), are saying "the Los Angeles Dodgers would like that trade to have back and do over"... and as much as certain people can't deal with reading about Gordon in any way, shape or form, Dee is far trom a dead horse. Really far.
Gordon is a damn good player and one of my favorite ex-Dodgers I heavily root for, cause he's the type of player you love to watch and has so much fun when he's successful. But also, the Dodgers would be in a shitty spot for the entire season if they had Gordon and not Enrique, Hatcher, Barnes, and Howie. None of those 4 players are superstars who give you what Dee does, but if the Dodgers didn't have those 4 players, we'd all be complaining about having a bad bench, a bad 3rd catcher, and a terrible bullpen. We got a great utility player who can back up at SS/CF (not easy to find) and crushes lefties, our 8th inning guy, our 3rd catcher, and downgraded at 2B but not an incredible amount. Again, it's simplistic but it's like choosing between having Dee, but you have Charlie Culberson getting a lot of at bats, Baez and Yimi setting up and praying it works, and Drew Butera getting real at bats. Or, you get Howie and Enrique, Hatcher, Barnes. One option isn't significantly better then the other, but I'll always argue that the one the Dodgers chose is better for them.
I really wonder why people seem to forget about Kike and Hatcher, who are damn solid players, but only focus on Howie, who is also good.
Because serviceable utility guys and relievers are a dime a dozen and batting/SB/fielding champions aren't.
Batting/SB/fielding champ Dee just signed for 10MM a year, which is also the same per year figure that a soon to be 33yr old Howie Kendrick signed for. Dee's value is well established.
While you're at it, see if you can come up with a " offended pussy poster" emoticon too, whose delicate sensibilities get all quivery over the mention of certain players. Fucking hard to believe the crying about even mentioning the guy far surpasses the bemoaning the trade. And like Darth posted, Kike is a nice pickup, even HK (left till the last second out there as he was) and Barnes is a nice backup talent, and give us DEPTH, but are they near the impact player Dee has become? League champ in multiple categories?? Not in this fucking lifetime...so get your fingers ready...because I'm going to mention him whenever the fuck I want...so the upcoming emoticon can take it in the ass.
So the FO overpaid for Howie Kendrick...just like they've done for Cubans and oft injured pitchers now and then. That's well established, too. Big fucking deal.
It's the constant obsession about talking about something that nothing can be done about. Plus, losing Dee has not hurt the Dodgers at all. If people want to complain about Greinke, I get it, 100%, but this is different.
But our goal is to win WS championships, not batting/SB/fielding championships. Since 1980 (35 years) WS Champs with SB leader - 1 NL Batting champ - 1 NL GG 2B - 1 Since 1980 (35 years) WS losers with SB leader - 2 NL Batting champ - 4 NL GG 2B - 0 You have to go back to the 40's/50's/60's to see a strong correlation with stolen base leaders and WS appearances, mainly the Dodgers and Cardinals of those decades.
If you're waiting until the 3rd game of the season to see your favorite team plate a single run, you might be Padre fan :Tuborg:
So true..and as you can read/see in your chief nuthuggers daily posts, "baseball websites are the place to bitch about it"...if you're so inclined. A quote from a great man, btw...lol.
