Let's just create a complaint thread so they can banter back and forth..

Honestly there really isn't much substance in here lately. Just Sky is falling type rants...

I mostly like to read insight and funny shit. Keep it light and entertaining gents..

Leave the drama for the women..

@irish we need a tampon emoji for the lady's around these parts!

In regards to a 37yr old player coming off a terrible/injury riddled year v. one that's smack in the middle of his prime coming off a career year, works well enough considering the details.

Hard to say that with any certainty given recent developments regarding qualifying offers/draft compensation, which Dee would definitely get.
It's also 1yr of excellent work history and not much to go on beyond that.
Maybe the figure rises from 50 to 60-65MM on the open market, but you posted the trivia yourself, a pool of teams warring over this type of player is probably not all that likely.

The game will start in a few and then we'll all be laughing at Kemp's RBIz again anyway, well, most of us

There are too many variables in that scenario to use it as a comparison. They just aren't good comps.

If you are saying Dee would definitely get a qualifying offer, then you are saying he is worth at least $15.8MM on a one-year contract. So there is some certainty that he is more than a "$10MM player".

Fun fact: If the Dodgers didn't sign Orlando Hudson in 2009, they could have drafted Mike Trout.

Ultimately the goal was to find Kike's AAV, so the comp between Dee's and Utley's AAVs is just a baseline, the details and/or variables are actually why I went ahead with it.

Well, we know you don't have to be worth 15.8MM to actually get the qualifying offer, so that's out.
But now that you mention it, we also have to consider Dee's age, he'll be 28 in a month and so with multiple years left in arbitration you really can't say that a 30yr old Dee that relies on speed would've hit it much bigger in terms of $ in a few years as a FA.
But for the fuck of it, let's say Dee would've been hitting free agency after last season, age 27, I could see him getting a Zobrist-like 4yrs/55MM or again maybe 5yrs/65MM in that scenario, perhaps even with the QO attached.

Side note. I actually like the brown uniforms the Padres wear. It makes more sense than the gemeric blue they've been sporting.

Regardless of the outcome of the CO/AZ game, if we beat the Padres tonight, we can have sole posession of 1st place in the NLW. And can then proceed to stay there all gd year.
So let it be written, so let it be done.

OK...but the brown they are using looks like a filthy, greasy version of a motor pool rag. Maybe it's my TV.

If I'm not mistaken, Vinny was in love with O-dog before he was a Dodger. Being a Dodger is not a prerequisite to being a vin ism.

About a $13MM annual player, that sounds about right. [IMG]

Yeah closer to the dollar figure that we all figured Howie would get in AAV after a good showing last year, but of course he was BABIP'd QO'd.
Even with the batting title, SB title, etc. they're both about the same in regards to annual player value, Dee is playing up to it tho when we expected HK to be about this good, so props to Dee.
Howie has a strong couple years left I feel, and if Dee could keep it up going into year 3 of his contract ( age 30) that'd probably be where he begins to slow as a speed 1st guy.
