"The loss of Bumgarden was a devastating blow to the morale of the team, and they never recovered from it"... also, Pence is not himself, and Giants have to wonder if age (34) hasn't severely curtailed his abilities.
As a Dodger fan, probably the ultimate insult is to sluff them off to true insignifigance, really, like they don't matter at all any more. But that is far from reality, and when we do go head to head, there will be blood on the moon, as always. I only hope it is theirs.

Bumgarner's injury, Cueto's down year, Matt Moore regressing, way overpaying Jeff Samardzija, Will Smith going down in ST, placing the rotting corpse of Denard Span in CF every night, not having a plan for LF coming into the season and having no depth in their farm system in the event of an emergency to go along with Pence being terrible. You can't place your finger on one thing that caused this season to fall apart for the Giants, they had multiple holes coming into it and basically a roster built of, "jesus christ, I hope nothing goes wrong". Anyway, I am thrilled to watch these events unfold for them.

Good summation. Not to mention the normally well-above-average Belt hitting 220.

My prediction for the trade deadline is that the Dodgers end up with Sean Doolittle, continuing the A's to Dodgers pipeline (under the assumption he's not on the DL in July).

Dodgers need a LHP in the bullpen, Doolittle has been pretty damn good when healthy, and the A's and Dodgers have a healthy trade track record. I probably prefer Doolittle over Hand and any other lefty reliever I've seen floated around

Doolittle's shoulder is too much of a concern for me, personally, to prefer him over Hand, but I thought Doolittle would be in a LAD uni last year.
Probably would have had he not been battling the same shoulder stuff that he's also been battling this year

As deep and talented as the Dodgers are at just about every position, one spot remains somewhat in limbo: second base. Even after blasting a two-run homer Sunday, Logan Forsythe’s still having an awful season. Acquired from the Rays for talented pitching prospect Jose De Leon over the winter, Forsythe’s batted an anemic .200/.331/.278, with injuries and a bloated 31% strikeout rate holding him to just two long balls in 36 games.

If Forsythe doesn’t start hitting soon, the Dodgers could consider going with superutility man Chris Taylor (.299/.384/.511, pretty much out of nowhere) at second, assuming the team’s outfield health improves enough for Taylor to no longer be needed there. But here’s something even weirder: After batting .098 (OH-NINETY-EIGHT!) in the first five weeks of the season, Chase Utley can suddenly do no wrong. Since May 9, Utley’s hitting .300/.395/.530. As fun as it’s been to watch 20-somethings like Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, and Alex Wood become young stars in Dodger Blue, the idea of a 38-year-old Utley coming out of nowhere to fill the biggest lineup hole for a team obsessed with youth and carefully calibrated decisions would be absolutely perfect.

Agreed. I think it would be best for relief corps to break up the back-to-back right handed pitchers with a guy like Doolittle. You beat me to it.

    • The Giants have lost seven consecutive games and, at 26-46, have matched their worst record through 72 games in the club’s (San Francisco) history.

We need another reliable SP. Then I think we are set. Another SP will relieve the BP, which is my biggest concern.

As the immortal words of the iconic Emilio Estevez utterance play in the empty chambers of my head, " that was then, this is now"...but I couldn't help wondering, (as much as it warms the cockles of me 'eart)...would I trade places with the SFags and their beloved misery now, for three recent world championships?
I would, I arrived at. Yup. Three in the books is three in the books, imo.
Not playing devil's advocate here, rather just wondering out loud.

Definitely. 3 WS's for just about anything is a good trade. And as bad as they are, I still look at the schedule and I'm thankful we only have one more series up in SF, because no matter what they turn into the '27 Yankees against us. Hell, they might be even more dangerous with nothing to play for except to "Beat LA".

Shiiiiiit, in the world of ¨ what have you done for me lately ¨, AKA reality, no chance I´d trade having a good ballclub today for immediate sucktitude and past championships.
Past championships are past championships, they all fall behind 2017.
Nobody wants to wake up in the morning and say, ¨ my team sucks ¨..can you imagine what DSP would be like in that world? Lol
If there´s a SFG fan out there leaving a game after watching his team get ass-blasted for the 10th game in a row, thinking to himself ¨ at least we won 3yrs ago ¨, god bless that fella..he´s got nothin to look forward to outside of beating LAD ( which of course they do very well) and going home to his old Lincecum pajamas with the feet in them.
When I see Cubbie fans complaining about their team this year, after going 100+ years before finally seeing their team win it all..that´s how it´s supposed to be.
Nobody gives Puig a pass for sucking now because he was good 3 years ago..nah, ju godda getty done today, papi

Useless to respond, but the quoted "what have you done for me now" indicates, to me anyway, just how valueless this present state of mind is compared to championships. Laughable really.
A mantra for the shoulda, woulda, coulda crowd, and stands up like a paper tiger against hard accomplishments...like 3 WS in a 5 year span.
    Lol.

That is a big concern. We already have seen what overuse can do - just ask Fields. Also, the more the BP is used, the more we have to rely on Hatcher and Romo.

Right now the Gnats are on pace for 104 losses, a distinction that I wholeheartedly hope they achieve. Winning 3 out of 5 is a great accomplishment, but would I take that now in my team's past if it meant losing over 100 within just three years? No. Give me three in the next five years and then I might take that trade-off.

For reference, the last time the Dodger franchise lost 100 they went by a different name and Roosevelt was in office... and I'm not talk Franklin Delano.

Doolitle and Yadier Alonso would be a nice haul from the A's.
Yadier is related to Manny Machado so maybe...
Either way we could use another Y-cuban.
He can hit in front of Yasiel and Yasmani.
Can replace Adrian, keeps Bellinger in LF, Taylor in CF or 2B. More power and punch.
    Why ask Why?
    One reason.
This Y guy sucks vs lefties.
