First, isn't it simply conjecture that they'll lose 104 games? God willing...
And the last time the team lost is when Teddy was president is better thing to own than a shit season projection after recent history you were world champs three times ?
Uh...OK. I guess beauty sure is in the eye of the beholder...I'll take the three WS rings for our guys over the charge up San Juan Hill.
    Every time.
    Doesn't matter anyway. They've got the multiple jewelry, recently, too...and we've got a 100 year+ uh...didn't lose 100 games thing.
    Alrighty then.

in theory, in retrospect, in blah blah blah BS.
in reality, though people do not live in the past
some dwell there in their mind so much that it seems as if they do live in the past
but they dont, it only seems like they do
because living in the past would be retarded
    literally, not physically or mentally
you would have to retard time
but that tech can only exist for people who live in the future
never for people who live in the past
if you live in the past you have no present
and if you have no present you have no gift to bring to the party
    the party is the future
your arrival to the party is the hope
but some of us were too busy stuck in our historical greatest hits to notice when the invitation to the party arrived
    the show must go on
just without those of us that love the past and shun reality

I dont care about the ring. It is geysers of champagne, its the cherry on the sunday, it is the icing on the cake.
I care about the run. It is an untold supply of cold beer, its the cherry in the skirt next to you, and the banana creme pie in your face.

Sure, they may not lose 100, but the fact of the matter is that they're really, really awful right now. So bad that callers on the local radio want a fire sale, but there's virtually nobody to sell (they consider Posey, Crawford, and the Motor Bike Stuntman untouchable - nobody else has much value). They're stuck with bad contracts in Pence and Spahn, Crawford and Belt are not producing offensively and making previous successes seem fluke-ish, and even Posey isn't showing his typical power, and most of all there's very little down on the farm to provide hope for the future. I'm not saying I wouldn't want 3 championships in our recent history, but like others have said, the past is the past. In the present, I would be really miserable as a fan of this team... much more so than I've ever been with the Dodgers.

    1. Sure...if you nitpick every facet of the organization, we leave them in the dust...no contest Now. But that was not my original point.
    2. Not a news flash. And all teams, most, when they dominate as they did for that stretch, go down after. Nevertheless, it was an incredible achievement. Minimize it any way you can think of, alter the point any way you want, I still prefer 3 ws victories over what we've had since '88.
    Forever.

Well, let's be pc...maybe we can get a trophy for being valiant.
Valiant participation and champagne drinking...that's what the players want too, ultimately.
    It's about the journey.

Not sure whom I prefer to lose. For all intents and purposes, they're even in the standings. I guess it depends on which team we perceive to have more staying power.

I would not trade those SF Giants championships for 1988.
All of 1988, not just the WS ring.
But I would trade those 3 Giants rings and the 88 ring combined for another awesome run that nets us a ring like in 88.
Because while 88 is worth more than whatever the giants have done since, and a new 88 will always be worth more than a 30 year old 88.

88 was particularly special because we had no business beating the mets, let alone the a's
never was an mvp more earned
gibson literally willed that team to a championship
that orel guy was pretty good too

all of that is worth anything the giants have done in the past
now if the giants won it all this year then their win this year would trump 88
not just because of their horrible record and no business winning it all
but because it is this year and not 88, or last year.
this year trumps anything before this year

every year trumps the year prior
and yet nothing trumps what's already happened
because whatever you do... it's already been done

I don't get how this is an argument. Witnessing your team win a championship in any sport is a rare feat. Lots of people go a whole lifetime without seeing their team win a championship and a lot of people may witness their team win one, but not experience it again for a long time. The idea of the Dodgers winning just 1 championship brings unbelievable joy to me, let alone three championships. The history books will remember the 3 WS. They won't remember a team that won a bunch of division titles and came up empty except for bad reasons like the Braves. I don't mean to sound spoiled because we are better off than a lot of teams, but we are talking about 3 World Series wins. I'd give my left nut for 1.

    SFG fire sale. Smh
Yeah, past championships belong in their place..appreciated, but in the past.
None of that old shit supersedes present standings or even what's to come.
As you said before..the next 3 of out 5 is always more important..managers and GMs know this very well when they begin to sit on the hot seat for seasons like these.
They don't get fired for winning 3 out of 5 in the past..they get fired for shitty present standing.
The weakest shit you'll ever hear from fans of teams that lose a game on a random day.. " well, at least we won it all 5 years ago! " Lol
FOH with that corny shit, your team just got ass blasted..wear it.
Never will I tip my cap to that sort of weak ass cop out..reminds me of this NYY fan bragging about their WS win in 2009 a few years ago when Hanley and Puig were hitting bombs all over Yankee Stadium.
FOH and wear your ass whoopin like a man.
SFG gettin blitzed this year..nobody's trying to hear anything about your past..wear your ass blasting like a man.

At least the Braves made it to the Series several times.

Dodgers haven't sniffed it since '88.

Yeah, I think we are all starving for a WS appearance. Past is the past, sure, but the joy from winning a WS stays with you forever just like the nightmares from postseason failures.

Swanson is going to single-handedly give the Giants this game. What a clown.
