A GS on a bobbleheard isn't the equivalent of getting a cycle which is more rare than no-hitters as a walk off hit. It is probably the 1st time in HISTORY that this has happened. The Gnats are 13 - 5 when Melancon appears in a game.

OBVIOUSLY I know that Irish but it's not just today that they pulled magic out their assess. I just know such a rarity as that finish that it's not out of the question that they're a team of destiny. I hope it isn't the case but it is looking like that to me.

I hope so too but I'm not going to write them off until it happens. I'm going Saturday so hopefully we'll start them on their slide.

Cycles are for lycra wearing poofters taking up the road, and fuckwits who can only hit one dinger in a game. Such a pointless fucking achievement.

Carlos Gonzalez was the last to do it, so it's been done twice by the Rockies.

If the Rockies make the playoffs, they would be the first team ever to have a walk off HR cycle AND make the playoffs in the same year.

My buddy who's a Dodger fan is another who says it seems like the Rockies are destined to win it this year. I don't get it. I see three teams in this division separated by one game, and the Rockies actually have the lowest run differential of the three. Walking off a victory with a grand slam is magical, but none more than some big comebacks we've had this season.

Now, if someone were to argue that it seems to be the Astros year... that could be harder to refute.

I think the Rockies are DBacks are legit playoff contenders I just can't get over the Rockies having great seasons from multiple rookie starting pitchers and the DBacks using Rodney as their closer. But, who knows. Would rather bury them right now

Rockies were expected to be pretty good this year, so I don't know if I'd call this some magical ride of destiny.
Either way, the way I see it, it looks like LAD will finally have to play with playoff intensity/focus way in advance just to make it and maybe that'll be a good thing.
Maybe they'll be on top of their shit come post thanks to the competition.

We'll outlast the dbacks and Rockies. Both too gimmicky, not enough substance

They were expected to be good, but the narrative there includes the cover of Sports Illustrated predicting them as 2017 WS champs a few years ago, so I guess that breathes some magic into their run.
The fact that they've finally been able to whip the nemesis Rangers highlights what they're doing as well

The Astros have cooled off some, and the Rockies have as many wins now (but Astros are still 2 games better in the loss column). The Dodgers are tied with the Astros for the best XW-L (for what it's worth) in the majors.

Agree. The soft division (Giants aside) hasn't done the Dodgers any favors.

Let me guess. They are just snake bit.

When Krukow once said many years ago about Bonds that "if you're not cheating, you're not trying" and said last year that he tried to follow what Vin does on the radio, I knew this guy was taking some mind altering drugs.

    The dude is a pathetic.

I was schooled by the Elias on that one. Last time it happened was 2010 by the Rockies coincidentally and they went 83 - 79 that year. So, not a pennant winner but I still think there is something going on with that team.

Oh, I agree with you. Waiting for the big collapse is kind of loser stuff to me...wait until this one gets a broken arm or that one is burnt out reeks of desperation.
In fact, we might be living that.
I was just letting you know what I heard about the cycle stuff...
I think it means very, very little, bottom line.
Like having NLWx4, CY, MVP, ERA, ROY, MOY, etc.
All of them still watched the series on TV, right?

snakebit, Coors Field.............he went through a litany of excuses. He doesn't realize how truly shitty his boy toys have been since the break a year ago (except when they play a certain which we won't mention).

And I think they get Grey and Anderson back this next week to boot. Should be interesting to see how their FO handles that situation. Their bullpen seems to have two extremes, a group of guys that are doing awesome and group of guys with 6+ ERA's that are awful. I think they are going to be here the whole year unless someone important goes down for the long haul(Holland, Arenado or Blackmon). If one of those 3 guys went down, it would put them in a bind, but the rest of the spots have someone waiting and ready to contribute. The D'Backs to me are the team that is in the most danger of a collapse. Their organizational depth is thin, and like the Rockies, have been mostly fortunate avoiding the injury bug. If they lose an arm in that rotation, they could start to hurt. The big takeaway for this though is that the Dodgers need to handle their own shit.

Both these teams do not have the overall talent and depth the Dodgers have and we are the organization that can make a trade at the deadline that will only improve on that. The Rox don't really have an immediate position they could fill that would make sense. Catcher probably, but there really aren't any great options out there and trading for starting catching midseason is not a thing most contenders do. Trading for pitching mid season in Colorado is also an incredibly risky proposition. The D'Backs aren't going to deal from their thin farm when the GM has already said that cutting back payroll is in the plans. They would have to move a player on the 25 man to get any sort of impact player. The Dodgers on the other hand could do a litany of things to improve that could help the team in the long run and they would just have to move some guys around to accommodate.

This year the FO HAS to do something before the deadline to make this team a runaway favorite. They have a month+ to figure out what AGon and Forsythe can bring, seeing if the increasingly more comfortable looking Puig at the plate is here for the long term and is 2nd half 2016 Joc Pederson back, and look to correct whatever is a risk. This team still needs an arm to throw in front of Janen and a 1B to lineup behind Kershaw. They have the farm system to make these deals now and big league contributors to move around to other clubs to potentially make other teams prospects work for them. It will be interesting to watch this front office as it approaches the deadline, I really hope they are able to spin some of their magic.
