4-6 weeks for Kershaw. Now just pray his healing and rehab starts go smoothly

I'm banking on the red for LAD's chances @ Darvish because I doubt they'll move Verdugo and/or Buehler
LAD has a guy or two that they'd move on the big club, like say Puig, who they reportedly would move in the right deal
TEX has the financial means to re-sign a Puig after next season, and they rarely rebuild, so perhaps he'd represent at least some value to them even though the team control isn't guaranteed
So if LAD is saying nah on Verdugo, but is open to adding Puig to the haul, maybe that'd help push something through
Is Puig a better piece than Schwarber or Russell?
No, because of the guaranteed team control mainly, but if you throw Puig on top of Alvarez and Calhoun, you may be heading in the right direction.
Alvarez + Calhoun + Puig + Kazmir + Ryu + Rios for Darvish..it's a lot of personnel and cartoony, maybe LAD would bring in a 3rd team at some point there, but it sort of incorporates what LAD needs done in order to re-sign Darvish and it's a pretty strong offer for a team with TEX's philosophy + maybe most importantly, something like that may be what it'd take to outbid NYY with their thirst for a #1.

If LAD can replace one of those arms with Adrian and his money, even better for the payroll pic, and maybe TEX and their annual thirst to win would take a shot on Adrian making a comeback, bring him back to Texas.
Pluck Rios out of the deal if they take Adrian and add one of the mid-tier, high upside arms like AJ Alexy.
    Alvarez + Calhoun + Puig + Adrian + Kazmir + Alexy Lol
All to get Darvish while opening up the flexibility to re-sign him, making him more valuable to them.
But yeah, that's a lot of moving parts and jumping on Verlander is probably more realistic..he starts today VS KC, BTW, so expect a lot of chatter concerning what he does today.
Bad year, yes, but solid in last few starts and of course he probably should've won the AL Cy Young last year, so if Verlander is in the midst of recapturing what he had just last year then you wanna be holding on to that experienced power arm come post season for sure.

The Cubs don't really have anything to offer, they aren't trading Happ, already traded Jimenez, unless Billy Beane does another one of his famous "take crap for talent" deals like he did with Donaldson & more recently Doolittle/Madson.

I wouldn't quite say that, brother.
Schwarber would be a smooth fit in the AL and he's having a down year
Or Beane could try to get Russell back and move Semien to 2B full time
They can let the older Lowrie walk after the season
A's have Barreto coming, but is he going to be better than Russell or Semien?
    Maybe not

I've noticed that a lot of our injured players also had upcoming bobblehead games.

Turner and Joc specifically and Kershaw has one this Wednesday.

    Can't just be coincidence. :scratchchin:

To add to the bullpen options, looks like we're involved with Pat Neshek. He's a sidearmer with some outstanding numbers.

"The team has not revealed its plan for re-integrating Gonzalez into the lineup"
those churros aren't going to serve themselves :kickmexican:

Gonzalez takes BP as rehab assignment draws near
by Andy McCullough | Los Angeles Times — 12:40pm Yesterday

Dave Roberts left his office Sunday morning to see an unexpected sight. Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez was in the midst of a particularly vigorous round of batting practice at Dodger Stadium. It was the first time he had taken the field since being placed on the disabled list on June 13 because of the herniated disk in his back.

“I was actually surprised at the effort he exerted,” Roberts said before his team’s series finale against the Braves. “He hit some balls out of the ballpark, and he said he feels good. I think for him to get on the field and take batting practice is a good thing.”

Gonzalez could start a rehabilitation assignment later this week. Roberts suggested that how Gonzalez felt on Monday, after a day’s worth of exertion, was more important.

“He wants to show us that he’s closer than we think,” Roberts said. “That’s good. That’s what you want from a player.”

The Dodgers do not intend to rush Gonzalez back onto the field. Cody Bellinger has replaced him at first base, and exceeded expectations. Gonzalez has homered only once in 165 at-bats, and has a career-worst .339 slugging percentage.

But if Gonzalez is healthy, the team would welcome him back. The Dodgers could shift Bellinger to left field and use Chris Taylor, the usual left fielder, at second base. The team has not revealed its plan for re-integrating Gonzalez into the lineup, but that would be one solution.

Welp, I wanted a close division race to keep LAD in meaningful games and into it
Not like this, though..not with CK going down
But now everybody has to pick it up and lock back in, hold down the fort ala last season

all things considered 4-6 weeks isn't that bad
if kersh had to go down, it couldn't have come at a better time
    almost a blessing really
let him heal and get strong(er) for the post
emphasis on healing, no need to rush him back prematurely

If we are playing for Homefield Advantage, there will be meaningful games until the end of the season no matter what.

Lots of people smilin ' from ear to ear over CK going down, you can bet on that.
Not only Giant fans and the Rocks/AZ, but some AL teams, too.
Comes with being top dog, I guess, and the team welfare is utmost overall in the end. Individual records are great, but a great team is best.
But with Kershaw's numbers as they were, he might have had a Newcombe like record at season's end.
He'll take a return to a healthy status, and a trip to the WS instead, I'm sure.

He could use the rest, although it's probably pissing him off right now.

That being said, it's a fragile dream winning the WS when one pitcher accounts for so much of that hope.

I've like the FO approach thus far, but this may be the year to take some trade deadline chances, even if they are painful chances.
