Only way I see it happening is if someone is just desperate for leadership and has the cash to blow. He is the type of guy that can turn a clubhouse around so he does have value there. I just don't know why he would do that. Being in LA brings up SOOO much extra revenue streams for him and playing out his career there will make him a legendary figure for the club. I could absolutely see him filling in a Tommy type role if he retired with us.

makes sense especially since a roster space is still needed to add bauer, and another if turner returns

Yeah and there really is not anyone that they are going to want to give up on the 40 man either. I thought Raley and Reks could go, but according to BA they were really impressive at the Alt site. Basically the two guys that made the most sense to me at the end of the season are not viewed that way now. They are going to have to make a trade or two.

Honestly, I'm not surprised to see Buehler and Kersh on the list and Bauer not. I know he's the reigning CY winner, but I don't think many are expecting him to repeat that kind of season. Hopefully we're all wrong. Like I posted before, I read one analysis that projected the Dodgers win total to improve by 0.5 wins based on this signing.

Flaherty on the list does surprise me. He's basically a career .500 pitcher with only one season of ERA < 3.00. Maybe it's the Arenado effect? But I'd have rather expected Fried or maybe even Snell in his place.

Yeah, nice deal. It also includes incentives for 2022. Up to $3M more based on his number of starts. And another $1M if he wins the Cy Young, or $600k for 2-3rd in Cy Young voting.

True, you can't blame him...but it's getting to grow a bit tiresome with the stubborn, unrealistic stance he is displaying. He has always struck me as an intelligent, critical thinker, but ,( assuming the FO has made an offer to him for less years), he is coming off as really unreasonable, imo.
There were plenty of guys who appeared to have a lot more left in tank than he does, who took less...or went to another team.
If that's what his lofty criteria and priorities are irl then he's made his bed, and I guess he'll have to sleep in it.
I love the guy, but as the Onion Knight in "Game of Thrones" said, " nothing fucks you harder than time".

    Yep. Dead on, brother.

As a stanch capitalist who is also a middle income schmuck, I am forever mystified at how some OTHER athlete's OVER VALUED contract makes a more quality athlete who signs for much less into an impoverished, famished Bohemian street artist straight out of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.

The players union wants guys to sign to the level of their comparative value. They do not give one moose fart about the player's individual contentedness or quality of life. It is all just greed and keeping up with the Joneses.

Dodgers make official their signing of Trevor Bauer and DFA Sborz. Ok, I missed him the other night in my rundown of our 40-man and he WAS expendable.

Trevor Bauer on choosing #Dodgers: "The locale didn't really play much of a factor. It's all about the organization, the talent level that's here, the organizational structure, the systems that are in place, the people that are here."

I am surprised CK is on that list. I do think his Cy Young days are over. Not that DraftKings means a whole lot to him, but if I were Bauer, I would be pissed I'm not on that list.

I have very little knowledge of Flaugherty.

On one hand, these guys are just trying to negotiate the best deal, as any of us would, just with more zeros at the end.

That said, this is more money than anybody can ever dream of spending in their life. It's an ego thing. They like going to the meetings and getting their cocks sucked.

You do realize that last year CK posted an ERA and WHIP well below his career averages, right? And his K's per 9 improved on his previous two years. The main thing that screwed him was starting the season on the DL, and yet he still finished 9th in voting. Now if you're saying that he can't make it through a whole season anymore without missing any time, I can see that, but otherwise I expect his numbers to keep him in the running.
