Dunno what their plans for Addison Russell are. Trade Chip? If they used him to get Hamels, I think it would be a deal that could work for both sides.

 

I wonder if he can play 3B. That could allow them to move Bryant to the OF and make it all work.

 

i'm gonna laugh so hard if the Cubs trade Russell. i mean if worse come to worst, they have the money to pay Scherzer. offer him 6yrs/190M and be done with it.

 

how much cash? Cubs have money, so if we're takin 35M or so...

then flip Castro to Cincy for Aroldis Chapman. go big or go home..especially after sending that much money to Chicago. Chapman may be dealt at the deadline anyway.

We would have to overpay to get him to accept that role but Chapman is one FA I'm really excited for next season.

Rays To Sign Asdrubal Cabrera

The Rays have agreed to a deal with Asdrubal Cabrera, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal tweets. The deal is for one year, the New York Post’s Joel Sherman tweets. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweeted that a deal was close. Cabrera had also been connected to the Yankees, Royals and Blue Jays.

 

Wow, why the fuck could we have not done this instead of trading for Rollins? Not saying they are the same player, but then we don't trade away young players.

Seems like a lack of due diligence by our FO. Not happy.

 

Lol Cabrera's defense at SS is not good..and we'd still be looking for a leadoff hitter.

 

i didn't like losing Windle, but let's face it..he's likely a reliever on the MLB level. could be a good one, but still a reliever.

Eflin..meh. he's Lee-like and we still have Lee, Anderson, Reed, and now Wieland.

they've given up some young players, but also added a lot of them as well. we actually have 4 catchers at the top of our farm now.

 

All about that defense tho. Asdrubal sucks at short.

The Padres and Mariners have agreed to a trade that will send outfielder Seth Smith from San Diego to Seattle in exchange for right-hander Brandon Maurer, ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports (on Twitter). Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN in Seattle was the first to report earlier today that a trade of Smith to the Mariners was close.

so Heyman thinks Zobrist could be moved next. i don't like it..another OF that goes ahead of Ethier and he has added value as a guy who plays just about everywhere. damn.
