He is. What he did with that team last year was nothing short of amazing.

I don't really care about Bud Black, but the "overhaul" was never as good as San Diegans wanted to believe. It smells like Bud is taking the fall for a .500 roster playing .500 ball.

Thinking the same thing but unfortunately he won't be replacing DBB. Most definitely sign him as a roving instructor or some capacity.

    :this:
funny how we all saw through what he put together this offseason
starting the season with 3 defensively inept outfielders, and an overrated rotation and bullpen
but the shameless media hacks and padres fans just drank it up :koolaid:
followed by a phalanx of mindless naïve lemmings jumping on the bandwagon
    and where are they now?

Always felt Black was a manager who got the most out of what he had. Especially when they played us. Always a tough game. Would love to have him as a guy to get our players psyched for the game.

The padres have been running minor league rosters out there the last few years and he's done really well with them...
I always wanted to see him get a chance with a decent roster, and now that he has, I agree with this firing.

Definitely is the GM's fault, not Bud Black.

Agree with everyone pinning the blame squarely on the GM. Here's a guy who wanted to make a big splash but ended up making less than wise decisions. To save face, a very good manager gets the ax. Bud Black deserves a shot with a club with a real budget and roster.

Yup. He just keeps making shit moves. This is just the latest. Who the fuck is he gonna hire now? Black would be a top choice hire.. Fucking dumbass.

Bud will bounce back and land somewhere. Too good not to.

It will be passed down from generation to generation. Preston will one day run the team, and his son will manage after Preston leaves.
