    dear robbie
you might very well need another right-handed bat
but your new team didn't just hand you $240MM to question them
i bet your apprehension of facing lefties didn't come up when your contract was being negotiated
tell you what... how about you stfu, do your job, and let your front office do theirs?
and next time you have an issue or concern (legitimate or otherwise), it might be best if you went directly to them instead of voicing it through the media?
    best of luck meat!

Robinson Cano: Mariners need an extra bat
    ESPN.com news services -- 3 hours ago

Robinson Cano thinks that the new-look Seattle Mariners still need some more offensive punch.

Cano, who signed a 10-year, $240 million contract with Seattle this offseason, said during a recent interview with CBSSports.com that the Mariners should look to acquire another hitter.

Robinson Cano said he would like to see the Mariners add a right-handed hitter to their lineup.

"I'm not going to lie. We need an extra bat, especially a right-handed bat," Cano told CBSSports.com. "We have many left-handed hitters. We need at least one more righty.

"You don't want to face a lefty pitcher with a lineup of seven left-handed hitters."

Cano suggested to the website that the Mariners re-sign free agent slugger Kendrys Morales, a switch hitter who belted 23 home runs with Seattle last season.

"[Morales is] a switch hitter who's got power," Cano said.

After signing Cano in December, the Mariners also added Corey Hart and Logan Morrison to bolster their lineup. Seattle currently is projected to open the season with a lefty-heavy lineup featuring Cano, Morrison, Kyle Seager, Dustin Ackley, Michael Saunders and Brad Miller.

Morales, who remains unsigned, would not cost Seattle any draft-pick compensation since he played with the Mariners last season.

Cano also told CBSSports.com that he would like to see the Mariners sign pitcher Ervin Santana, another high-profile free agent who is still available.

"[Santana is] great," the All-Star second baseman said. "The guy's always pitching; he never gets hurt."

Santana, 31, went 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA for the Kansas City Royals in 2013 and has made at least 30 starts in six of the past eight seasons.

The Mariners could have a need for Santana due to recent injuries in their starting rotation.

Veteran starter Hisashi Iwakuma (finger) and top prospect Taijuan Walker (shoulder) both are unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Saturday.

As far as Cano is concerned, the Mariners should have been in contention to sign several free agents this offseason. The five-time All-Star also mentioned slugger Nelson Cruz and pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, who both recently joined the Baltimore Orioles after remaining unsigned through most of the winter.

"If it was up to me, we'd have Santana, Cruz and Ubaldo, too," Cano told the website. "That's really more for the front office."

Someone should have the looked more at the roster, team history and a little less at the contract.

    Maybe

Ultimately jay z works for cano. My assumption is that while years and consequently the money become a guarantee it shows complete lack of understanding the worth of being the face of the Yankees. Madison Avenue would have more than made up the difference.

I've said it before about jay z. He sang that he made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can. Lets see what you can do for a mariners hat asshole.

So once again when it isn't about the money, it's about the money.

STFU Cano you signed for a last place team for money and years get over it and vacation with Pujols.

If he is already saying this stuff, it would not surprise me if that was one of the things management promised him before he signed. The Mariners are closer to competing than many people realize with Paxton and Walker to pair with King Felix and Iwakuma, that is going to be a strong front 4. They really are a bat or two away from being a serious threat in the West. Just need to be willing to move some of their prospects/young guys like Franklin, Ackley and Peterson for something bigger.

I think you guys might be blowing this out of proportion a little bit. He was asked a question and he suggested the Mariners re-sign Kendrys Morales. I repeat, Kendrys Morales.

i think you need to re-read the last paragraph of the article
he also mentioned cruz, jimenez and santana
played the "if it were up to me" card
and then essentially kicked management under the bus by saying not getting those guys was more (on) the front office

Cano would make a good GM, it's always a good decision to sign a guy after he was suspended for PED's.

    This I cannot disagree with.

And maybe someone should mention to Cano that if he hadn't sucked up all the cash the Mariners had to spare he might be surrounded by a couple more bats. Ya think?

come on now...Cano's doing exactly what he should be doing. the easy thing would be to sign for the money, say nothing and just accept a shitty outlook team-wise. i wish our best player during the McCourt era would've stepped up and put some pressure on McCourt's BITCH ASS...maybe we would've landed Cliff Lee in '08 and went to the WS.

pretty sure Seattle made promises to Cano...one of those promises was probably to protect him in the order...well they've not done shit worth mentioning as far as protection goes. it's borderline retarded that Seattle didn't sign Nelson Cruz...look at what he signed for in Baltimore. smh and the way everyone's talking about Kemp's batting practices makes me thing Seattle's gonna miss on Kemp as well.

It's a ten year deal, you can't build a winner overnight. Even if promises were made, I seriously doubt they promised to just throw money around at any POS on the market.

I watched the Yankees do it, I watched te dodgers do it when they got some cash. When the Yankees were at the top of their game, they picked who to give big $ to. Then Steinbrenner went.....Steinbrenner and thought any move he made was the right move. I feel the dodgers made the same poor decision in its trade with Boston.

Maybe cano should play a season or two and see what happens, instead of bitching in his first spring training. I'm sure these comments are very endearing to his current teammates. I'm sure king Felix would like a better team too, if he feels motivated to speak about it, he sure as shit isn't speaking to the press about it. Cano should talk to management about his concerns not a reporter. Who is actually in position to do anything about it? Why embarrass the people you want to help you?

If he needed a solid lineup overnight, he and jay z should have held out and made them make those other moves first. Either way dude was going to seriously paid.

I would give up Rubby de la rosa and Jerry sands for Adrian Gonzalez every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Crawford, Beckett meh Punto was ad advertised sole role player. Gonzo was the centerpiece of that deal though, the other guys were throw in salary dumps to get him.
