Unless Bellinger, Calhoun, Verdugo, Urias, and De Leon are all playing for us next year, I can't imagine caring (spoiler alert: They won't and I will). I'm just sick of this. It's like, no matter who we add to the roster it doesn't matter. And then we have to go through another 162 just to try again. And these opportunities might not come again. It's no guarantee. We've wasted so many opportunities to go to the WS.
I don't think that psychosomatic or physical reasons even come into play with this performance...I know everyone loves the guy, as well all Dodger fans should. But the excuses, which is what they are, sound lame. But he plainly and simply flat out sucked tonight. That's it.
I seriously haven't watched a World Series since maybe 2005. Just too painful to see other teams having all the fun.
We were just overmatched. Kershaw just isn't the great pitcher we hoped he was. He is consistent and takes care of himself during the season, that's why his numbers are great. But that's his A game, he simply doesn't have another level. Not enough pitches he can mix in with command TBH. Our offense just sucks. Big ball, undisciplined hitters that create good sabermetrics friendly numbers, but when you need to manufacture runs the team is ill-suited. I imagine as sabermetrics matures they will start to develop stats for postseason success, and those stats will show AVG>OBP and speed>power. Full circle. You can't just walk and hope for big innings vs good pitching. It's all bullshit, and we never had a chance. We are lucky this even went 6. The Cubs are better and it's not even close. Go Indians. Fuck this series.
I use to love the World Series. I use to love it up till 2008. 2008 and 2009 I watched but it hurt. 2010 was unbearable and I don't think I've fully watched after that
Cubs are way more talented then Dodgers, and the Dodgers have played beneath their talent level past 3 games. Sucks that we still managed to get this close and not pull it off. Ugh
We don't deserve to be here. It almost sucks that we took that opportunity from Washington, a team that might have had a legit chance to push the series.
Kershaw has had opportunities to change the narrative, and this game could have sealed the deak for him. But he consistently fails. And that is a real problem for us. It basically means we need another post-season pitcher. Awhile back I said would you trade Kershaw for MadBum. I know that is blasphemy around here, but there difference in post season results is palpable.
why are they taking him out??? lol God damn Dodgers, fuck up Aroldis man. make that moment hurt for Cubs fans
Yeah, that's probably true, sadly. And without him, our chances with this basic core team, are deeply lessened without him closing. They will very probably let him go, and get someone who is a shadow of Kenley's overall performance. But he will be cost effective, surely.
This is a team that needs 162 games to accumulate value from their roster. Take Joc and Grandal. For a CF and C...their defense and power plays big time over the course of the season. But when the sample size gets smaller, you can't trust them. They don't hit with enough volume (yes, AVG) to come through in tight spots (no homo). If you spend all year flirting with the mendoza line, what are the chances you're going to gap one with the bases loaded? Not high. Because your hit:AB ratio sucks. Then you have the platoon guys. Who are only effective part of the time. You HAVE TO HAVE more Turner, Seager and (younger) Adrians. Guys who are hitters.
