he's still striking out 8.3 batters per nine innings. It's not a career high, but it's above his career average of 8.5. i love journalism. hope the guy gets his feeling back but lets be realistic. he's done. as the article says he's already made enough money for several lifetimes so whats the point? enjoy the taste of swallowing boston's chum gargleheim.
not saying this isn't true/possible/likely but i'll wait to hear from a credible source, and not some assclown blogger
this espn saxon clown jizzes all over himself at even the slightest provocation of a rumor, and even he doesn't mention retirement Josh Beckett to meet with specialistBy Mark Saxon | ESPNLosAngeles.com Updated: May 30, 2013, 10:28 PM ETANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett is traveling to Dallas on Monday to consult with the nerve specialist who performed shoulder surgery on St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter last season. Beckett, 33, has been dealing with numbness in the fingertips of his right hand for weeks and has been on the disabled list since May 14. Beckett is 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA in eight starts for the Dodgers this year. Several of those starts came after he began experiencing the numbness. "The frustrating thing that I'm having right now is I don't have pain," Beckett said. "I'm dealing with ineffectiveness and numbness, and I can't actually feel the baseball." Beckett, who is in the third year of a four-year, $68 million contract, said he continued to pitch with the condition because of the Dodgers' early-season injuries to pitchers. Zack Greinke and Chad Billingsley were lost within the first few weeks for the Dodgers, who have used nine starters already. "At the time, we were losing starters left and right. I felt like I needed to go pitch, because I didn't have any pain," Beckett said. "I still don't have any pain. I just can't throw the ball." Carpenter's surgery with Dr. Gregory Pearl was supposed to be season-ending, but he surprised many people by returning to make two regular-season starts and two playoff starts for the Cardinals. He hasn't pitched this year, but has begun a throwing program and hopes to return in June. Beckett came to the Dodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox last August. He went 2-3 with a 2.93 ERA over the final five weeks. __
Well, we don't have to pay him if he retires. I'd rather he retire than pitch like he has been this year.
Well, a pitcher has to be able to feel his grip on the ball so that is not good news. Fuck the $$, GG has plenty of $$$$$$$$$, but if he can't pitch then he can't pitch... get him off the roster already
The Dodger zoo continues, without halt or respite. Amazing. W actually have played better than we were, say two weeks ago, and have made zero progress with anything, and now have less players than ever. There is nothing that this team seems to be able to do for any length of time that helps the club...there is always something that steps in and destroys everything. And we never get the players we want up from the minors...always some temp who is just a band aid until someone comes off the DL. The Dodger way. Half our problems are because of the ponderous, plodding attitude of the GM when it comes to these things. I guess they think the season so far does not reflect the real team, and it's lurking somewhere in the near future, waiting to burst out like an alien from Donnie's chest. Can't wait.
Sandy talked to him an awful lot in ST, so maybe he is just following his footsteps like some kind of crazy fan.
Yes, Sandy has a tremendous effect/affect on him. Did you know his bah mitzvah is next weekend? Oy vay. They won't be singing "Danny Boy", boyos....
