The stats said otherwise, at least in the power dept.

Why are we going back and forth then?
Doesn't "slightly better" kind of cover that?
Is there a reason to debate this?

"But his defense is insufferable" is all that needs to be said. Really. It's just awful. If the offense is marginal, I will take the superior defender who's also much younger.

I agree AND I already said that-("FedEx is a better B/U, I think we all agree"). I guess we got Baker, so the minor league depth problem was addressed.. Now will Fedex get enough playing time?

I would argue that DBB will ease Ellis back into it full time and give him a chance to get back to full strength. However, that would show intelligence and we see how much of that our management has when it comes to injuries.

as in "too nice to say it" ?? Really??

plain painful truth is not your forte?? ... ... tonight... ??

I'm all for not picking on those incapable in defending themselves, simply out of kindheartedness...

    but
I've also had to fire people before
    never easy
    but
    usually necessary to be direct

"Jorge... go play some baseball yourself for awhile and come back and see me when you understand the game better. In the meantime someone else will need to be found for the desk of announcer"

No evil intent nor slam on any personal factors but a direct communication that the job they're attempting is not getting done with the level of competence they provide. Saves his dignity while explaining why he should leave and not darken our door again.

Welch or some other GE guy said "if you do it right it doesn't feel like wielding power"

but he won't learn baseball that way so assigning him to a dead end starter job isn't helping him

Dustin ackley has never shown he can hit MLB pitching well and may never. His career OPS is lower than Ethiers current OPS, in which he's struggling. Sure, ackley plays 2B which is cool but as of right now he's not even a sure upgrade over mark

And he's young and might figure it out,but being 25 he's had some time.

Those yahoo guys and there speculative trades suck

But yeah he was a second overall pick in 09 and raped the minors. 25 years old and plays second base. Dre is an ex HGH 31 year old dude who can't hit lefties and is owed 85 million through his decline.

I think Ackley has the talent, I'm just not sure he'll ever reach his potenial.

If it was straight up and we send no money, I'm down. But that would never happen.

Ackley fills a hole at 2B, while Ethier is on the choping block regardless

Yeah Ackley hasn't shown too much since he's been in the bigs but he's been playing in Seattle for one

    He's hitting .400 in AAA in over 100 AB's

But this is all for not, because that trade won't happen

Ethier for Ackley, straight up no cash involved then I'd do it. Won't happen though.
