I think we're buyers regardless But to honestly think we have a chance on July 31st, we gotta be within 6 games
Rumor mill starting early: Dodgers pursuing Ricky Nolasco and Matt garza Offense is obviously more important, but at right price a starter would be nice to push Fife into a spot started role (which magill sucks at) But "right price" is the scary phrase here
Am I the only one who kinda doesn't want to make a significant trade? However, whoever the best pitcher that gets traded I want to sign as a FA. Also I'm kinda hoping Brian McCann gets traded so he can be an option for us to sign him.
I'm with you. I still have a bad taste in my mouth waiting for the team to "gel". I don't want to start all over again.
I'd want to add another starter (preferably cooler than Nolasco and Garza) and a third basemen. Mike at MSTI went over possible options today at third though, and it didn't look too pretty.
Nolasco is actually an interesting piece, being that he is a free agent at years end, I wouldn't give up a top 5-7 prospect for him though. The top 5-7 being: Seager, Urias, Lee, Pederson, Stripling, O. Garcia, Magill (Yes, I know).
I'd trade Magill for a bag of peanuts. Fuck that I'd trade Magill for one peanut shell that somebody has licked all the salt off of.
All depends on what we give up for Ricky, Id like him on the team cause it gives us 6 capable starters instead of 5, and he's allright. His FIP has been good over the years but his prtty bad ERA has never matched. But if we are giving up valuable assets for him we could use elsewhere or might need for 2014 when we have a better shot, well that'd suck but wouldn't surprise me from ned
Also, Nolasco is, like, the right-handed version of Chris Capuano. They have similar numbers throughout their careers.
Nolasco would be a straight salary dump, no top prospects That being said I'm not a Nolasco fan, except for the fact he's a SoCal guy
Los Angeles Dodgers Nearing Trade For Ricky Nolasco? By Bryan Rose - SI.com/Fansided June 25, 2013 at 4:51 pm Both the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres have held discussions with the Miami Marlins about starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco. As we reported earlier, the Marlins are moving fast in their efforts to trade Nolasco and both the Padres and Giants have been two of the most interested parties. Some rival GM’s have said they expect Nolasco to end up with the Giants, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are doing everything they can to prevent that. According to Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle: "Hearing Dodgers are on blitzkrieg to get Nolasco.Makes sense. They can absorb $$, keep him away from #sfgiants, #padres. Could be soon." The Dodgers, who apparently have endless amounts of money could simply buy Nolasco away from the Giants or Padres and adsorb his hefty deal as Shulman suggests, though, it would only raise the price of fellow starting pitchers on the market like Bud Norris. Currently, the Dodgers sit 8 games out of first place behind the Arizona Diamondbacks though only 4.5 and 5 behind the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. __
