Kemp entering that clubhouse shouldn't even be an option. Likely isn't.

I think the only reason this was done at all is to get Rhianna back into the Dodger family fold...it's so obvious.

Would guess that if they DO trade him, it happens within the next couple of days as I feel that moving his contract is probably a precursor to bringing back Darvish. The word is that they have gotten more serious about retaining him.

I agree. I was just spitballing, knowing that certain guys are untouchable at this point and others are guys we would rather they not move, but in the right deal and of course, as you said, do they plan to do something with that flexibility this winter, that will play a role.

So according to Cots, the Dodgers are currently about $17M under the threshold(they also have a section for AAV). The Tom Kohler deal will cut into that a bit, but the agreement has not been announced yet. These are some names to watch over the next few weeks and how they impact the club.
    Matt Kemp $20M AAV
    Logan Forsythe $9M AAV
    Yasmani Grandal Projected $7.7M AAV
    Hyun-Jin Ryu $6M AAV
    Josh Fields Projected $2.2M AAV
    Pedro Baez Projected $1.5M AAV

Hope you are right about Darvish. Clayton/Darvish/Hill/Wood and either one of Maeda/Ryu/Buehler/Urias. Pretty good, GREAT for competition. I know the FO is viewing this rotation without Darvish and saying it is one of the top rotations in the NL but I'm greedy.

Obvious question. Who would take him plus at least part of his salary?

At this point nobody especially with the clubhouse issues being reported. We would have to include a top 15 spec too.

The Red Sox re-signed Mitch Moreland, guess that's means no Eric Hosmer, maybe JD Martinez is more likely.

Royals come to mind for me if all of Hosmer, Cain and Moustakas walk. Their farm is dipping into rough territory and Kemp at DH for say $10M a year could be worth it for them if they could get a piece like May back. They also have some SHIT contracts on the books, though not sure any would be worth it(Gordon 2 yrs $18M AAV, Kennedy 3 Yrs $14M AAV, Moss 1 Yr $7.25M AAV). Blue Jays, White Sox and maybe the A's are all teams that they could probably pawn off some of that contract for with the right prospects involved. Like was said earlier, the White Sox make a ton of sense since they're a large market and are hoarding prospects right now.

Whoever signs Hosmer are going to be kicking themselves for quite awhile.

I just want to say again how much of a fucking shitshow the Marlins situation has become and looks to be. They are going from a team that was probably a boat crash and a couple dumb contracts away from being a legit contender, to a team that very well could be the laughing stock of baseball for a decade. Their farm is utter garbage, the trades they have made could be labeled mediocre at best and the players that are left over are asking to be traded. This thing has a chance to get much much worse before it gets better.

I feel the same way for all of the Royal FA's. Moustakas hit a bunch of HR's this year, but that was about it and Cain is going to be basically worthless the second his legs start to go. They all have serious red flags for me.

MLB has proven time and again to make stupid decisions (McCourt, all powerful umpires who ruin games, etc). Why they let this group in with no intention to spend, Jeter notwithstanding, while there were other local, deep-pocketed suitors out there, just proves it. Manford must be Selig's spawn.
