If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Daniel Brim the Dodgers Digest guy who closely follows japaness baseball wasn’t to keen on him so I’m not that upset

Cool. He signed for a pretty decent contract of 2/6 so it wasn't astronomical.

Still holding out minimal hope for Darvish but yeah Archer would be great. After January the 12 th when the players are going to give their numbers to the club that's when IMO we'll be more active.

Because he is arguably better and only in some aspects. The biggest problem is he is left handed and Stanton is Right. We have 2 lefty power bats that should be here a long time and no longterm RHanded ones. A good loogy would chew through Bellinger, Seager, Harper and totally destroy late inning rallies.

i hear what you're saying but you argue that a good rhp against taylor/turner/puig/barnes
and what would the yankees want for stanton... prospects and/or us assuming 90% of the contract?
whereas harper would just be $$$
stanton is the better slugger obviously, but bryce is the better hitter/fielder/athlete
hey, let's get them both :duck:

They'd need a lotgy for that and I can't think of one at this hour.

Probably the best 1 stop shop option. Tampa's a pretty good one too with Archer/Colome and possibly Souza. Although, haven't heard anything about Tampa moving Souza

I don't see a lineup with taylor/turner/puig/barnes all in a row without Seager and Bellinger in between somewhere to break up the RHers. And any number of those 4 will probably not be in the lineup in a couple years, especially the top to middle.

I bet if MGT offered Lux they could swipe Cole form the tankees. It would be nice to get a package of Cole and Cutch. Maybe Lux/Toles/Sheffield.

Surprised their has been no mention of the FanGraphs projections being out today, needless to say they LOVE this team as constituted.

    https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2018-zips-projections-los-angeles-dodgers/

    Some notes:
They see regression from Taylor (no surprise)
Bounce back from Pederson, Forsythe, Grandal
Solid (unspectacular) seasons from the whole rotation (in-terms of innings and effectiveness)

you know anytime we acquire a guy like this the other team has to immediately think
"oh shit what did we miss?"

He changed to a side armer during 2017 minor league season with basically the same results. He walks a ton of guys which is his achilles heal so he'll have company. He now becomes the tallest player on the team which is a totally stupid note I get it. Kenley is 6'5".

It's really too bad that Owens hasn't lived up to his potential. I remember scouts drooling over that frame when he was at Edison HS.

I know it won't happen, but I do think we need to get another SP and call it an off season this year. That would just make us that much more of a threat in the next off season to spend on a power hitter(s) and BP help, including a top notch 8th/9th/10th inning guy.

goes both ways man, otherwise you argument doesn't work either
