Don't we also have Farmer? Won't a Barnes Farmer platoon be enough for the season?

I dunno. Always liked Grandal, but if losing Grandal and trying to move Kemp with the loss of a lower ranked prospect gives us another SP, I'm for it.

Ryu is damaged goods unless he can prove to be an effective middle relief guy.

I’d like to see Kemp get an opportunity to have maybe 250 AB’s. I think he can be productive, and it has potential to be one of those stories that turns out amazing. My username is still “kemp for president” for like my boingo account and a couple other thing I made in 2008.

I don't think anybody wants to see him play the field for 25o ABs worth of games though.

I'm sure there's at least a handful of Kempites who wouldn't give a fuck about the runs he gives back

I know we are in the age of advanced metrics but the defensive metrics are still considered incredibly hard to measure so I'm all for giving Kemp ST to build up his worth IF ANY.

This is getting interesting. Didn't Kemp's fling with Toni Braxton the cause of his first issues with the Dodgers?

And Riahnna is rebounding with Kemp after getting a face palm from Joel Embid?

This will not turn out well.

IMO, that would be foolish. DFA'ing him needs to be an absolute last resort and if the season begins with him starting in LF, then so be it. They need to see if his bat is still there and if it means tossing Kemp in LF 6-7 innings a night, 4-5 days a week then they should do it. If he starts the season off anything like he did last year, then the Dodgers may be able to find a taker in the AL for his services for more than what the minimum would be. Like I said in an earlier comment, this team is not going to be hurt by starting Kemp for a period of time this season, but it could help them for the next two if they do play him. I am not sitting here thinking we are getting the old Matt Kemp to be our middle of the order savior, I'm hoping we get Apr/May 2017 Kemp and quickly spin him to a surprise AL team and recoup 5 Mil a year.

I have these backup defensive metrics called " eyeballs "
One would have to be blindfolded and listening to the game on mute to think Kemp was anything other than trash defensively
Another pretty good clue, as far as his standing goes, is the fact that he's now on his 3rd team in 3 years and for good reason
All this talk about his conditioning and no mention of the fact that his hips were red flagged a few years back
Fat, thin..doesn't matter if your hips are shaky

Further, let's just say Kemp starts off the season white hot and looks like a key/missing piece to LAD's lineup..how many of you are supporting a Kemp trade in the middle of the season under those circumstances?
Sell high on a Kemp that's rolling..the remaining Dodgers had better not fall flat at the plate in the post season or else who's getting the blame for breaking it up?
From what I gather, the hurdle of trading Kemp is directly connected to trying to sign Darvish..thus, if they carry Kemp into the season..is Darvish still waiting? Out of baseball? No. He's signed elsewhere.
If they keep Kemp into the season and he rakes, they may as well just keep him and look for a cheaper option like Archer

Ryu is projected for a 4.12 FIP over less than an average amount of innings for a SP

    i don't disagree
but if he doesn't play well and there are no takers, how long does mgmt want to waste a roster spot on him?

what's retarded is confusing him with the player he used to be
8.7 owar player during his near-mvp season, has never approached half that total since and last year was 0.4
give him the spring to show what he's got
if he isn't productive you have three choices...
    1. keep him and waste a roster spot
    2. give up a good prospect in order for someone else to take him
    3. dfa him
and i never said they would or had to release him, only that it wouldn't surprise me
