If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Imagine if we got Verlander instead of Darvish. Hindsight, yes...Darvish was a FA to be and arguably better at the time of the trade but ugh. Astros got a horse.

Luckiest set of fucking transactions ever. The FO rightfully made a bold move at the deadline to get Darvish, he was the best pitcher available, Verlander wasn’t that great then, and the Astros were talking shit that they didn’t need to make a move as they sat on their hands. Then, their players speak out about their lack of moves, Verlander goes unclaimed cause teams are cheap, and Astros make a panicked last minute move. Then it all works out for them. Although Verlander wasn’t amazing in the World Series, should’ve beat him twice but he somehow got loads of credit. Ugh

He’s such a fucking meathead. Loved how the Marlins gooned him in the 9th.

Gnats probably thinking not having Strickland is a blessing.

Plink fest in SF. Of course the Gnats get the favorable treatment. Rodriguez plunks Brinson, no ejection even though Brinson didn't to ANYTHING in yesterday's game.

Marlins pitcher plunks Posey, gets kicked out.

At this point, I don't care if the Marlins burn another pitcher. The moment Rodriguez comes to bat, plunk him and cause some damage.

Yes, I'm going to hell, but I knew that already.

I'd try to swap Verdugo for Ruiz in this and I'd even throw in another top 10 spec if that is all it would take for Syndergaard.

Brandon Morrow to the DL with lower back tightness. Before the back tightened up, he had been complaining that he was tired from overuse(they really weren't using him all that crazily much). This is not a "hail nerds" post, but it is a big insight into why they don't like to give big/long term contracts to relievers(outside of Kenley), especially those who just enjoyed a career year out of the pen, in their low-mid thirties and after the org used every ounce of fuel the guy had left in their tank(Joe Blanton and Grant Dayton welcome you to the club, Brandon). It is becoming more and more abundantly clear as to why this org would rather take a flyer on 5 relievers at $10M total, rather than one potential elite reliever at that $10M clip.

Morrow being injured is like the sun rising. One of the oft-injured pitchers of this era.

Always had him on my fantasy team. When he was healthy... god damn he was good.... it was just all that waiting for him to actually be healthy.

    - Dodgers said to be kicking the tires on Manny Machado. Report out earlier today said that it is becoming more and more likely that he is traded prior to the deadline as ownership has pretty much realized he's as good as gone after the season.
    - The club is expected to be in on any and all top flight relievers that become available. Indications are they have dipped their toes in the water a bit already.
    - Word is that the price tags on Jacob DeGrom and Noah Syndergaard are insanely high and that the Mets FO has no interest in actually moving them. Early indications are that the Mets have responded to teams by asking for the clubs top 3-4 prospects + multiple other pieces.

    Outside the Org
    - It sounds like the A's are closer to getting their stadium issue resolved as they passed a bill yesterday to allow officials to move forward with a privately funded stadium at Howard Terminal? (Going off of memory here). This is big for a couple reasons, 1. Good, get them the fuck out of that shit hole. 2. After them, the Rays and their stadium issue is the next big project for MLB and that too is moving forward. 3. If those stadium issues are resolved within the next year or two(which they could be), the game as we know it is likely going to go through its biggest change since 1973. I fully expect expansion to 32 or even more teams at that point, the DH to be picked up by all teams, with the AL & NL being disbanded for an East/West regional alignment. The writing is on the wall for this and it is only a matter of time.

A bit puzzling that the LAD are sixth or something in + run differential, and haven't scored mierda in quite a few games now. Too bad it all equals out to mediocrity, or barely over.

Kershaw is now a  to start tomorrow. Omaha has rain in the forecast in each of the next couple of days and he’s currently in NYC giving very vague references on his status for tomorrow. Thing is, NYC also has a high chance for rain tomorrow, so they may elect for him to go on Sunday when things are supposed to be clear.

So Kershaw is now going tomorrow and Ferguson is sticking around to back him up due to the shitty weather.
    - Buehler has a 20-30 pitch bullpen tomorrow.

    that's some weird shit
pitching in cold/shitty weather recovering from a back ailment makes little sense

Yeah... 90% chance of rain too. Keep wondering why they’re pushing him like this.
