If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

26.6M wont be jack shit in a few years.
    you aint paying that money
no matter if they sign Stanton or not they will still raise prices on shit and there will be folks will still pay
    so dont worry about it
we got deep pockets finally and you worrying about this stuff
remember the days of Fred not having any money to sign anyone
    those days long gone

    fred did pretty well
    especially with that 88 team
in addition to gibson, griffin, orosco and howell made huge contributions
even davis (who tanked most of 88), earned the walk ahead of gibson's hr, and later hit a huge hr in game 5

Yeah, I dont want to gut the farm system but like I have said I think there is enough talent there that won't happen. Yeah, given the salary increases that could be coming in Harper/Arenado/Machado you might be right. Anyone remember what Adrian Beltre was asking for back in 2005......something like $10MM per year which the dodgers balked at.......that ended up being a HUGE bargain. I also don't like the length of the contract as well but here is something to ponder. Should Stanton go the "Pujols" route in say the last 5 years of his contract........BUT in the first 5 years the Dodgers win the WS twice......would that be worth it??? I duno.

Stanton wants to go where he wants to go.
    Shocking.

Tbh, I liked Bud Black but I think it was deserved. Didn't expect the Dbacks to contend tbh. That JD Martinez pickup at the deadline by their FO was inspired.

They definitely had pieces. Very solid lineup plus an ace. They were a perennial playoff team in the making

I’d offer Joc (though I like him and that would make me sad), Ryu, and Alvarez. My question is can that contract be reworked? Like say he agrees to opt out in 3 years and we can add 4 years and 140 million or so to the deal

Plenty of options here, never made any sense to deny the possibility given the player's love for the org and the org's pieces all around.
If I'm Friedman, my initial convo with Jeter would go something like this..
    Jeter - " Sup, Andy? "
Andy F. - " Jeter, your answer to this next question will determine if our conversation concerning Giancarlo moves to level 2. "
    Jeter - " Oh shit, ok. "
Andy F. " Jeter, what do you say to Scott Kazmir and Brandon McCarthy? "
    Jeter - " Welcome? "
Andy F. - " Congratulations, sir. You may move to level 2 now. "
    I wouldn't even give Jeter a " hello " until level 3.

Yeah probably, but I’ve heard they’re thinking of trading britton and using the money they save on starting pitching. And britton is in the same boat as Wade Davis last year, and the Royals only got Jorge Soler for him.

Well sure, but I highly doubt McCarthy would pass Baltimore's Navy SEALs style physical.
Knowing the way they penny pinch in BMore, they're probably going to want some reliability in that space.
TBT, I'm not sure if LAD has the starter they're looking for.

As far as I know MLBPA does not allow for restructuring contracts. It would likely also cost significantly more than that in players going back and my guess is they’d prefer a DJ Peters and Edwin Rios over someone like Joc. They wants guys that are 6+ yrs from Arb.

Chris Woodward is emerging as a top candidate to take on the Yankees head coaching job. Ok, this shit is getting annoying now. Nobody pilfered the fucking Cubs after they won it all last year, but we finish behind the Astros and teams are grabbing everything off our shelves like we’re a fucking Piggly-Wiggly and a cat 5 hurricane rolling in. Wtf!?!

    Giancarlo is coming.
Start to pencil him in your lineup.

    RF: Stanton
    CF: Puig
    1B: Turner
    LF: Bellinger
    3B: Seager
    SS: Taylor
    C: Barnes/Grandal
2B: Jose Miguel/Logan, Barnes, Kike, Culberson, Taylor (but hopefully Cozart or a trade for upgrade at deadline)

There you go again pointlessly moving players positions for no reason at all.
