I feel like they could use the opt out to circumvent that but I don’t know much on that issue

The opt out is what he was going for there..there's nothing the MLBPA could do about Stanton opting out and taking a little less to help the org that made his dream come true.
Agree with the latter, at least now that it seems Miami isn't just falling all over themselves for young pitching.
Been reported today that they just want value, not necessarily young pitching, so they'd probably ask for Verdugo.
And TBT, I don't know that I'd send Verdugo over..I guess if it came down to it, probably.
But Verdugo can't just be carelessly given away..not when he could help fetch a Gerrit Cole in the event that the Pirates finally move on from Cutch

Famous for building personnel depth, but the depth in the FO and within the staff seems to also be in high regard. The time has come I suppose. As far as I know, we still have Raul Ibanez in the FO as a special advisor to Friedman and he's been up for managerial gigs, so his name may be coming up one way or another pretty soon as well

Can we create the position of 2nd base coach? Utley would fit right in.

Seager needs surgery or will need to play with a recovering injury next year.
He is also not the best SS and will only get worse going forward. Best to move him to 3B or 1B.
Turner has knee issues and would benefit from being more at 1B so he can be stationary.
Taylor at SS makes the defense look good.
Better yet Taylor at 2B and Zach Cozart at SS make the defense look even better.
The Astros have SS all over the field. Even their LF is a former SS.
Athletic guys with soft hands and good arms that can all cover ground defensively.

Dodgers tried to acquire Tommy Pham this summer
by Steve Adams | MLB Trade Rumors — 33 minutes ago

The Cardinals are looking to trade multiple outfielders given their logjam of upper-level talent, writes Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Phillies, Orioles and Giants have had interest in some of the Cards’ outfielders in the past, Goold notes, adding that Randal Grichuk is the outfielder that “comes up the most often.” Goold also reports that the Dodgers tried to pry Tommy Pham away from the Cardinals prior to the non-waiver trade deadline but were unsuccessful in doing so. In addition to Grichuk and Pham, the Cards have Stephen Piscotty, Dexter Fowler and Jose Martinez at the big league level. Beyond that, younger options include Harrison Bader, Magneuris Sierra, Randy Arozarena (who Goold profiles at the beginning of his column) and Tyler O’Neill.

Man, that woulda been a huge addition as Pham was somewhat quietly one of the best players in baseball last year. Makes me think that maybe this org does likely have something else in mind for LF. Only thing about Pham if they circled back around, he is not worth a huge return. He’s great when healthy, but it is not something that comes often for him and I believe I heard he has some degenerative vision issue.
