MLB and the players union are continuing to make progress on a deal that would potentially move back the next CBA agreement set to expire in 2021. No terms are being specified, but these are said to be the topics that both sides are most willing to consider. So we could be a while yet from the DH in the NL talk.
    • A three-batter minimum for pitchers, starting in 2020.
    • An expansion to a 26-man roster with a maximum of 13 pitchers, also starting in ‘20.
    • A 28-man roster in September with a 14-pitcher maximum.
    • A reduction in mound visits from six to five in 2019 and five to four in 2020.
    • Shorter innings breaks.

Honestly, if you are going to do this, make it a nightly 28 that you can actively swap in and out of the active roster. Still get the kids a chance.

Without getting too far into it.. not a fan. I’m a catcher so part of my job is to talk the umpires up and frame strikes for my pitcher. I enjoyed stealing strikes for my boys and they appreciate it.

Completely against as I like the human element, however I think there needs to be stronger penalties for umps that go too far outside the lines.

If we had signed him to the same deal he'd have lost a little less than 1.2MM/yr in state tax over what he'll pay in PA. He could easily make that up with investments that pay 5%.

In reality, at this level the tax thing is crap.

I feel it would almost murder the catching position in a way, make it like another 1B where you throw a guy behind the plate that may not do much else than hit and maybe has a strong arm. Still have to catch and block with a runner on, but there would be less demand from the position. What about in late game situations with no runners on? Fuck lets not risk some sign stealing, just pull the catcher from behind the dish, put him behind second and just have the pitcher throw what he wants to a vast emptiness and let the robot make the call.

From Heyman and based on what is out there, we know who made which offer
"Harper did have a 300M-plus offer with opt-outs and had a short-term (3-4 years) one for 43M a year but preferred the Philly deal in the end"

Welp and now here is Morosi
In Bryce Harper talks, I am told #Dodgers were willing to offer a four-year deal worth approximately $45 million per season. That would have allowed Harper to shatter the all-time AAV record and become a free agent at age 30. @MLB @MLBNetwork

That's not a serious, sincere offer.
$180M guaranteed was never going to get it done

    ...by design.

Q is: Do we as fans still feel good enough to pay $50 to park and drink $15 beers?

Nah, sounds like they were sticking around to scare up the Phillies and Giants offers.

Agreed. The Catcher position is the most pivotal position on the field. We’ve all heard this game is played up the middle. It starts with the guy behind the dish, who can see the whole field and handles the ball more than anyone else in the game. So many little things catchers do that go unnoticed. Calling a good game is lost on so many people and until recently, framing was a trade secret.

Not to mention that you can take an amazing defensive catcher with a lesser hit tool and push him up through a system. In HS, if you can catch well and don’t hit, you still play a ton.

Wait a damn minute. Haven't you been complaining for the longest about a hole in the OF?

I’m saying that since Bryce is taken, they better focus on pitching now. Obviously they feel they’re set in the OF.
