Dodgers/Indians thing was the most notable story all day. Other than that, Billy Hamilton to Royals. People get so excited for these meetings due to their history, but they are honestly pretty boring. You basically get WAY more rumors, but these are mostly used for planting seeds for deals to happen later.

Entering his prime at a scarce position, Realmuto is
We know there's going to be starting pitchers available at the deadline, maybe as good as Kluber
But we don't go into the season thinking there will be elite catchers available, certainly not 27 year old backstops of his caliber

    • Andrew Friedman said that Corey Seager has begun baseball activities.
    • Cody Bellinger is coming in this next week to work with the clubs new hitting coach and others to address the issues that plagued him last season.
    • Alex Wood is reintroducing the windup to his repertoire after ditching it last offseason.
    • Friedman said that the club would be comfortable going into the season with the OF depth staying the way it currently is, but he doesn't see that happening.
    • The Rockies GM said that they made a strong effort to acquire Paul Goldschmidt and are pursuing 1B options. I would not be shocked if this is where Jose Abreu finally lands.
    • The Phillies sound like they may be the strongest pursuer after J.A. Happ.
    • The Indians are said to be lining up a big potential deal for after a Kluber trade. They are said to have had talks with the Rays and others about moving Edwin Encarnacion with Yandy Diaz. This is significant as it could signal that they are closer to making a move so that they may jump the DH market. The other thing could be is they are trying to find a way NOT to have to move one of their coveted starters. We shall see.
    • Morosi reporting the Dodgers have expressed interest in Nick Castellanos, though he is not high on their wish list. He can hit, but the dude is an atrocity in the field.
    • Morosi is also saying that talks have intensified in Kluber talks, but things are not necessarily close just yet. He hears the Dodgers are leading the way in talks thus far.

Mets are said to be trying incredibly hard to land J.T. Realmuto. One scenario includes a 3 way deal with the Yankees, but this sounds like a pipe dream for multiple reasons. The main being that the Marlins are hesitant to deal with the Yankees after getting fleeced last year and the other being that they do not want to trade Realmuto within the division. It’s also being reported that the Marlins are still insisting on Cody Bellinger in talks with the Dodgers.

If they insist on Belli, tell them to go fuck themselves and move on. Is their FO full blown retarded or am I missing something? I wouldn't trade belli straight up for Realmuto.

They are so sensitive after last season that they’re now being incredibly overly cautious. I mean, look at what they want from the Mets, Nimmo, either a Rosario or Conforto, plus prospects. They’re fucking insane.

    • Per Jon Heyman of Fancred, none of the Dodgers’ glut of outfielders are unavailable in trades, including 2017 NL Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger. He does imply, though, that 23-year-old Bellinger would be most difficult to get; other options, like Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson, and youngster Alex Verdugo have most often found their names circulating in the swirling winds of trade season, though Chris Taylor, who’s averaged nearly 4.0 fWAR over the last two seasons, is apparently on the table as well. One of Pederson or Verdugo would, as lefty power bats capable of handling center field, seem the most logical candidate to be moved, but the notoriously coy Andrew Friedman, long a sucker for homegrown talent, may be setting his sights elsewhere. Pederson, for one, has a value difficult to gauge precisely – his frightening platoon splits (129 career wRC+ vs RHP, 61 wRC+ vs left) at times mask a steadily productive player (10.1 fWAR since ’15) in the four years since his debut. LA, of course, is thought to be seeking upgrades at the front of the rotation.

I would be too. They are also talking about attaching the other K on their team, Mr. Jason Kipnis who I like and it would fill a need at 2b.

Would've liked Kipnis a couple of years ago, now it feels like a punishment to watch him try to swing a bat.

When I get back here at 11 tonight, it will be that they claimed a 30-year old reliever off waivers.

In all seriousness, it wouldn't shock me if they have a deal lined up to move a starter contingent on getting Kluber (or maybe someone else not being discussed).

Certainly not after turning down offers for Belli in the past..WSox asking for Belli in the Sale talks and Minny wanting him for Dozier a couple years ago. Suppose they've made it clear that they like Belli a lot.

Well, it is the Marlins. There's something about owning that team that turns people full retard.

I could see the Braves, with AA in charge there, perhaps helping LAD clear the way for Harper so he's out of the NL East. Phillies pose a serious threat to what the Braves are building. I'm sure AA wouldn't mind Joc or Taylor. May even take Puig given that they have a new ballpark and Puig can at least bring his circus act for a season. Braves help us out for the 2nd year in a row, I think..although, they won't be taking Kemp back, of course
